Very poor service when needing to communicate, on hold forever. A nurse who forgets to renew license timely will have to wait up to 2 months. We understand we should be held accountable to renew timely but 2 months is horrible after submitting the requirements. It negatively impacts not just the nurses' livelihood but the employers and patients who depend on these nurses, a profession that is in dire need of workers all the time and more so now. We deserve a much better service from an organization that holds us to the highest standards.

Paid 150$ for my APRN certification 1 month ago...... My 150$ isn't worth 15 minutes of their time. Still waiting for my license, which impacts my practice.

My job has a LICENSED LVN/LPN on staff with us. However, telling you that information is useless because the Texas Board of Nursing does not have our LVN in their portal and has not resolved this issue for almost a year now. I am our HR Director and both myself and our DON have reached out to the board multiple times. Every time we speak with a representative they say the issue will be "resolved" within a few months. A few months has been promised since October 0f 2021. It's a shame this is what nurses have to endure, but hey protocol over the patient right? I don't know why I'm even shocked.

Terrible organization, or lack thereof, don’t move to Texas, just don’t do it.

Apply for reciprocity from your previous state of practice
Depends on several rhimgs... the status now... is it delinquent or inactive? Have you kept up with your education requirement? Have you practiced in another state in the last 6 years? Is Texas your home state, where you were originally credentialed?? You mist likely will have to go thrua refresher program. And then apply for a temporary license that is good foe 6 mo. During that time you badically redo a preset clinical curriculum set forth by the refresher program director. Who got her instructions from the bon ; ) my friend did this 2 years ago... after 20 years. And she is doing great! Here is a link.. good luck. https://www.bon.texas.gov/licensure_renewal.asp
Apply for Texas cna license
You need to evaluate your credentials with CGFNS first and foremost
File an endorsement application online with the TX BON. I would find out if you can start the process now. It took me 9 months to finally get my TX license.
The amount of 12 hours shift is usually facility dependent; most facilities will limit your 12 hours consecutive work days to 4. Working so many days in a roll without a break in between can lead to fatigue - a significant safety concern, especially for the patients.
Yes you can. You may have to wait longer than usual for licensure. Up to 90 days according to the board.
Noooooo
No, you need to file an "endorsement" application with the TX BON. You can do it online.
The BON is drastically underfunded to support the number of nurses we have in Texas. I've called all different times of the day for the last 3 weeks. Using an auto redial app on my phone I finally got in. I was the 23rd caller in the queue. The BON rep was helpful. She did say they only have about 10 people on staff to answer phones. Their phone system will give a busy signal after they have their caller queue filled up (which is pretty much all day any day. Good luck everyone.
45 days
Depends on what state and how long license not active and for what reason....some times remediation or classess have to be taken....good luck.
Your nursing license is a public record, and I am not sure why they need a hard copy, sending it via fax should not harm you in any way. Fax is more secure than email which is more common.
In order for one to maintain their Nursing Licensure, in Texas the TPAN program is advised rather than letting the license to be revoked; suspended, or voluntary surrender. It stays on the license for the length of the program; and upon completion of the program; it is removed. A license stays current and never again once mentioned as a restriction. The program is a very good way pursue, rather than voluntarily surrendering the license! Especially for the time, dedication one has put forth towards a NURSING CAREER.
Please report your inability to contact nursing board- it has been an ongoing problem.
I would go to the lobby get visitor badge then the 4th floor, you can enter who you need at computer station on the 4th floor.
CGFNS documentation is accepted, but not required by the Texas Board of Nusing. If you so choose, you can have the foreign licensing board send the completed TX BON form "Verification of Registered/Professional Nurse Licensure Form" directly to the TX BON (either via snail mail or via email). It has to come directly from the foreign nursing council to the TX board of nursing. Alternately, the information can be obtained with the assistance of CGFNS international, if you so choose. Hope that helps!
35 yrs have passed since you took the test, the real question is why now do you want to get a license? Reexamine your life, if the need is to help others, you don't need a license .
Hi, I have the same issue called the Board and I was told to first do the evaluation of your credentials then the agency will need to mail them your results and this will take a few weeks or months to be done. And if you practice in El Salvador with in 4 years you qualified to apply for licensure by examination that's all I know so far and this agencies have to be approved by the board I guess there are more options to validate your education but it is a complicated process if you don't have any help
What do I need to do?
The Tx BON is underfunded and ineffective. I applied for reinstatement of my RN license in May 2022. According to Diggs, head of legal department in the last quarterly minutes in 2016 there were over 2,000 RNs requesting reinstatement. At least 1,000 had waited over a year. So, don’t hold your breath. And, getting them to respond in any way is next to impossible !! Good luck. Hang in there!!!
You'll have to contact them through email/phone. They're still closed due to covid and working from home. SO PLEASE DO NOT SHOW UP! You'll be wasting your time.
Gotta call their number over&over until you connect
Call 512-305-7400. It may be a long wait but they will get to you! I have had to call twice in the last few months and the first time I was number 93! But I was able to speak to someone both times. Good Luck!
You can definitely find out by calling TBON. They have customer service folks available to answer any questions you may have
The website should have the endorsement application online. Try calling to see if they can answer your question. I'm not sure of the exact process.
Really. Have you written the letter to the board of nursing or contacted them to inform them of the situation? They will guide you more.
I never heard such.
Go to the TBON website and it will direct you as to what steps to take.
Blue card🤔
No but they can verify it on the nursying website
For licensure due to imposters and such, it's required. Texas definately would never leak a US SSN number out of their government agencies.
Complete the online application at NurseEndorsement Application. Print a copy of the receipt page for your records. The Texas Boardof Nursing (BON) will issue a one-time, 120 day, temporary license (if you are eligible) within fifteen business days of receipt of the completed application and fee.
I have only called twice and both times was able to get a live person. I'm not sure what the trick is. Try emailing them and ask for a call back.
Yes. Texas is a compact state. I'm going through it from Wisconsin. It's taking a little bit but they are very helpful😉
call texas board of nursing....i believe it is compact back and forth...but have to apply....send an email they will reply pretty fast.
Go online and follow the BNE process for renewal. It can be done electronically
Fantastic answered every question she gave us a lot of information that was well needed we can apply it I would recommend Rose I didn't get her last name I forgot it she told me it was great
You don’t have to login to verify licensure.... if that helps
I have no idea, I dont work there
I am from Canada licensed in Louisiana. I am looking for information on how to obtain my Texas license. If you have any information that you are willing to share I would most appreciate it. Thank you
are u a texas compact nurse
Did you ever get your answer?
The website answers a lot of questions. If u can't find the answer on the website, click on "contact us." You'll find a webmaster email address. Send ur question to that email address with your contact info. It may take up to ten days for them to get back to you.
I was told to keep a notebook/ journal.
She would need to go through CGFNS (Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing School) first and foremost to have her credentials evaluated.
Call the board and ask them
Being a recovering addict with 27 years, the first step is to talk to the director of nurses in your department. There should be an EPA program at your job. If not there is TPAP, a board that assist nurses that are using on the job. She has the option to turn herself in or get reported. But the stipulation is that she MUST go into treatment. She will either lose her license or get temporarily suspended but it will be taken care of. I turned myself in and got treatment. And i agree, NO impaired nurse should be practicing until he or she is in recovery with a sponsor.
