Yes therebare a few spots to fish from. Make sure too look at the mapping area so you know which way to go. If not you will end up doing a huge loop befor you find the fishing areas and then figure out its right at the entrance to the right instead of going straight ahead. Hope ive helped!

I'm not sure what the city's official answer for this is, but water moccasins are frequently seen in and around the river area here. Just yesterday we saw a good 6 ft long one sunbathing on a tree root. It completely disappeared from sight once it entered the murky water... I would NOT recommend swimming there.
