Their system was down, and no one knew how to use paper charts. This threw off the receptionist and the doctor. The optometerist on staff, Dr. Rettew, was not there. I am under the impression someone from the VA was filling in for her. This optometerist, although nice, was a little frazzled. We were told when we paid for our exams, since their system was down, they could not give us our perscriptions. It would be emailed to us the following day. That was fine. That was Thursday, it is now Sunday and we have yet to receive them. We have made 3 phone calls to request our scripts. We even supplied a different email address just in case something was wrong with the one they said they sent it to. My husband needed an eye exam for renewal of his DL, however the doctor who did the exam explained to him (after the exam) that she is not registered in the SC system to be able to do that and would have to defer that to Dr. Rettew to do the following day. Apparently Dr. Rettew said she couldn't do it and that the other Dr. would need to register with SC system and complete the DMV referral for my husband. In a nut shell, it's been nothing but a hassel. We have paid for the exams, not received our scripts and have not received the DMV verification # for renewing a DL. I had planned on ordering my glasses from here, but definitely not now. I will take my business elsewhere. Maybe this is an isolated incident. I don't know. This was our first time visiting this Lenscrafters location. I would not recommend this establishment if you are looking for efficiency.

Horrible. I had to order contacts and they told me it would take a week and a half. After 3 weeks they told they shipped them, then after another week I called them to say I haven’t received them. They proceeded to tell me they hadn’t shipped yet. I’ve been without my contacts for a month and a half. I already paid $200 and when I came in to try to figure out what was taking so long, they gave me a few trial contacts to “hold me over”, as if I haven’t been without them for weeks. Horrible.

Everytime I visit Heather is always so nice & pleasant. I was there back in January of 2022 to get my eyes examined & to get a new pair of glasses. I normally stick to a certain look but Heather convinced me to try something outside the box. Needless to say I appreciate that she got me to try something new!! I get compliments almost daily on the frame I'm wearing & I also love my new glasses. I had a slight issue with them & stopped by this weekend. As always she was helpful & friendly. She helped me with my issue & reminded me that I could always swing by if anything else came up. Thank you Heather for all that you do. Even though it's something as small as glasses but for me it's more than that. I appreciate you Heather & I hope Lenscrafters does as well because she's a great asset to your establishment!!

Questions & Answers

The worker was great, but these expensive glasses are not. I've given it two weeks. I'm going back to them today. I can't see out of these glasses!

You should bring your vision insurance and medical insurance information to your eye exam. If you currently wear any prescription lenses, bring your eyeglasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses. You should also bring any and all questions you may have. Contact your optometrist if you have specific questions about any additional items you think you may need to bring to your eye exam.

An annual eye exam involves more than just updating your glasses or contact prescription. A comprehensive eye exam can also detect eye health issues as well as general health problems. Conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure can be detected in early stages through an eye exam, and this can result in early treatment. Schedule your annual eye exam today.

What is the difference between an eye exam and a vision screening?

LensCrafters | Oct 22, 2021

A comprehensive eye exam is administered by an optometrist and can detect not only vision problems but problems with eye health and general health as well. A vision screening is typically performed by a general medical practitioner such as a pediatrician or a nurse. While a vision screening can help identify vision issues, it can miss many important issues that a comprehensive eye exam can identify. This is why everyone is encouraged to get annual eye exams. Schedule your eye exam today!

Is a contact lens exam different than an eye exam?

LensCrafters | Oct 22, 2021
LensCrafters | Oct 22, 2021

A normal, comprehensive eye exam will allow your optometrist to determine if your eyes are healthy enough to wear contact lenses. During your contact lens fitting, detailed measurements of your eyes will be taken to determine the right contact lenses for you. There is an additional fee for a contact lens fitting and evaluation for all contact lens patients (both new and established patients). Schedule your eye exam today to have all of your questions about contact lenses answered.

Taking your child to an optometrist for an eye exam is the best way to learn if your child needs glasses. Many children who need glasses aren’t aware that they do. Signs of vision problems in children include sitting too close to the television, squinting, sensitivity to light, difficulty with eye-hand coordination, and avoiding visual activities like reading and drawing. To see if your child needs glasses, schedule your child’s eye exam today.
