You can do a walk in at the ID card section located in the Strom Thurman building on Strom Thurman Blvd from 0800-1100. To get through the gate you will have to go to the visitor control center to get a pass to gain access on the base.

Stayed at the Super 8. Was ok and inexpensive for 1 night. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Don't try go in early they just shuffle you over to another parking lot and you get behind the people arriving on time.

No he cannot get on base without any type of identification he got to have an id,and you will have to go threw the forest drive side to go to the registration building for a visitor pass

Yes, you will have to go to the VCC at gate 2 to have your VA card entered into the system at Fort Jackson also you must be service connected. On the top right side of your card, you should see if you are service connected.

Unfortunately they genuinely seem terrible at conveying the information that people need to know. The address that I got for my soldiers graduation was the plan B location if it rained so I ended up having to figure out where the actual location was on base. Also when we called them for information nobody ever answered.

Go to gate 12 and they will help with your visitor's pass. Long as you have a valid drivers license you can get a pass.

Just graduated a battalion. Masks and proof of vaccine were required.

Notify the Gate Guards the purpose of your visit and ask them what process you have to take to get access on base. The Visitors Center with get you Certified

Several hotels are at I-77 and HWY 378, 2 exits from the main gate at I-77 and Forest Dr. You can register as a visitor at this gate or at the next gate to the north at Boyden Arbor Rd and Percival Rd. Columbia Metropolitan Airport is the common airport 30 minutes from post, but some use Charlotte, NC 1.3 hrs from post or Charleston International Airport about 1.45 hrs from post. Cost and times are sometimes better at the last two.
