What an incredible place. Drive slowly because the roads are narrow and wind through the trees. There are pull offs to let cars pass so be careful and pay attention. The trails are nice but not well marked so be sure to check the map. For instance the Grove of Titans trail splits to the left for the grove, but the trail heads another mile down to the right and there’s no indication and no loop back to your car if you go to the right.

This state park is worth the short drive from Bookings Oregon to California. You don't even notice the change from one state to another. I recommend going to the visitors center in Crescent city before starting your journey. The maps are free and the staff are knowledgeable. Take the Howland Hill Raod (stage coach rd from the 1800's) leaving the Park. Take the Hwy entrance to enter. It was amazing. The Stout Grove trail is a loop hike. Wonderful area, parking is limited. But, people were parking on the side of the narrow space road. Worth the drive to see the beautiful old growth. Walking in history journey.

We only got to do 2 of the several trails, Simpson Reed trail and Grove of Titans. We also did the driving trail. Just those 3 took us over 3 hours to do and we were kind of rushing. It was cold, damp and slippery so be prepared properly to watch the weather and wear the right shoes. Elderly or disabled will probably have a hard time on the Grove of Titans as the path up is steep. The trees are incredible. I wish people would respect nature and not carve in them, dead or alive. It would be amazing to come back and spend and entire day. We saw no animals just some snails and slugs. Oh, driving into the Grove of Titans is very snug one way road so drive carefully.

Great experience! It was a rainy day but still loved waking through the forest. We picked a short trail right off Walker Rd. It was an easy trail and we still got to experience the Redwoods!

Yes there are water and electricity hookups
There are no hook ups in Jedediah Smith campground except two camphost sites. There are four cabins available with electric. There is a dump station to dump waste and fill potable water.
Last month we did both in a day successfully. If I were to choose, I would prioritize JS. When you visit, drive the whole loop rather than go in and out the same entrance like Google routes you.
Yes, dogs welcome on max 6 ft leash on trails and in camp. We just camped over Thanksgiving and had all access except to visitor center.
Yes, camping is available year round in the park. First come first served. They allow check-in at noon. Dogs are also allowed at the campground, on-leash and always attended. However, I don't believe they are allowed on all the trails and in all the recreation areas.
Nope. Dogs arent allowed in any redwood parks as the trees ecosystem is extremely delicate.
I think the fee $ might only be for overnight camping and/or certain parking lots? Try the CA State Park Websire for ? https://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=413 The link above was to JSmith State Park.
Crescent Beach Motel is a great place to stay if they have any rooms available. It's not fancy, but it's right on the beach: https://crescentbeachmotel.com/
Some campsites are tight and back in. others you can pull through. There are so many in the area and they fill up very quick so reservations are always a good idea
Prices are on the reservation website. reservecalifornia.com
There may be, but in the campground we walked thru, there were only cabins, with required reservations. All camping spots required reservations.
No, it is not needed. You can simply pay by the night for camping. An annual pass covers the day use fees, not the camping fee.
Yes it does.
Didn't see any didn't see sign doesn't say no
There is a day use fee you are supposed to pay if you park. Used to be $5,not sure what it is now.
No
You would need to contact California state parks. I don't think they accept reservations during the off season,it is first come first serve. If you have an RV longer than 25' you will not be able to stay there.
No. But the National Park does. Ask at the visitor center in town or the one in Hiouchi. It's on Bertch Ave. just off of Holland Hill Rd.
I think would fit. May want to park and walk down first to make sure. The walk is beautiful even if camper won't fit
Yes
You can enter the day use area of the park then take a short and beautiful walk to the beach.
Fair space for tent(s), fire pit, picnic table, bear box. Trees all about, but don't cut or burn them.
Organ Donor Grove is where Elk Valley Rd. Meets 199. Just a small gravel turnout/parking area across from a motel and hair salon. Drive slow to see the trail.
We did not actually stay in the campground. I'm sure they vary at different times of the year. I would check the bulletin boards.
Yes
The grove was named for lumberman Frank D. Stout, founder of Knapp, Stout & Company—one of the largest lumber companies in the world in the 1870s and 1880s. Stout died in 1927. His wife, Clara, donated the 44-acre grove to Save the Redwoods League, which helped establish the park in 1929.
East of Crescent City on Route 199. Stop at Visitors Center for map to find driving entrance.
All fires are in the provided fire pit. No bbq's no oil lanterns no candles. No tiki torches...
