We had fun because we were with our familiar but wouldn’t return to this site for sure. Negative: Definitely not a “resort.” No park, nothing fancy, just bathrooms, showers, laundry (we didn’t access any of those, we had our rv). It’s a weird place, there are long term residents and then tourists. We were next to a long term resident and spaces are fairly close to each other but surprisingly a quiet campground. There were cigarette butts all in our fire pit and the concrete slab at our site was so messed up, we kept tripping. Wifi sucked, barely and trees. Positive: The location is perfect to access trailheads and the park. Nice to have a restaurant and gas station market next door too. Negative: We arrived two days later than we booked, and I tried calling multiple times and emailing and never got a response. The phone was just busy every time I called. So it was pretty nerve wracking to make a long trip not knowing if my reservation would still be available. It was thankfully but poor communication. And with the campground not being full at all, I should have asked for a refund but they say “no refund park.” Overall, location is great but the campground is just a little run down and pricey for what you’re getting.

The campground here is very nice. You are in trees, have space between you and your neighbors, and can have campfires. It is also in a great location to see the Redwoods. You are less than a mile from the Northern Visitor's Center. I would have given it a 5 but they don't have all their amenities open that they advertise and we had to deal with a hanging branch on our exit that they knew about for more than a week but no maintenance person to take care of it.

Nice pet area. The host, Brenda, was super helpful. We arrived late and all the info was outside the office. There’s a great cafe across the street. We asked Brenda about places to see in the area, like the redwoods. She had pre-typed instructions for a great 1-2 drive thru the Stout Redwood Grove. Would recommend.

This is not an RV Resort. There are literally no amenities: no playground, dog run, trail, no store, pool, games, nothing. The sites are not pull-through; they are parallel park. There are not trees separating you from neighbors. The token machine for the quarter-operated showers is located on the opposite end of the park from the dingy showers which could use a good scrubbing and there were not hooks to hang your towel. They say the host is available until 9 but when we called at 8:40 no answer and message not returned. They won't give out the bathroom code, wifi code, or laundry room code (where the token machine is) over the phone even if you have a reservation. So don't get there late if you need any of that (our fault we were smitten with the beach). Sad to drive through California past pray for rain signs and then come to a place instructing you to flush three times. And you actually really need to do it because I don’t know how or why but a ton of water goes down but it doesn’t clean it out at all. Our family for using the bathroom one time would be flushing 12 times! There is big lit up sign that says Hiouchi RV Park making us think we were in the wrong place. We were charged extra for our kids and extra for our dogs on top of the already high price even though there are no amenities for kids or dogs. Had a difficult time sleeping after reading reviews of brazen thefts and the host explaining not giving us the codes when we requested due to people trying to sleep in the bathrooms and laundry room. Sleep dreams! There is a meadow in the middle of the park but the price is too high for nothing else provided. We stopped here without much prior research - lesson learned. Will not return.

2 technically as there are bathrooms in the main office. The showers have several stalls and the bathrooms are well maintained
45-53/night depending on site as per website.
I love the place. The staff is very friendly and will answer your questions.
You have to ask the office if there any spaces with monthly rates.
