Beautiful lake with a small beach, some of Dirty dancing was filmed here, you can take a boat tour to the scene where she practice her dance moves on the steps carrying the watermelon.

No. I got firmly reprimanded over doing that a couple days ago. You can park at Morse Park and carry your kayak about 100 yards up the trail and paddle around the inlets. Also, you can park at the ABC store on the other side of the beach and put in there.
Yes, there is walking area next to the marina with lots of area to fish, make sure you have a north Carolina fishing license

The marina rents slips
There is a permit required to put a powered or non-powered boat on Lake Lure. You can get the permit at Town Hall or the marina (assuming either is open, neither was when I went to do some early morning fishing) Boat ramp is closed off when marina is closed.
