The food was good. Only my husband is in a wheelchair and before leaving he wanted to use men's restroom. Unfortunately he was unable to because his wheelchair could not go through the restroom door. He is amputated and a wheelchair is how he gets around. Though food is good they should make the restroom ADA compliant. Because until then we will have to stay away. Also we will not be able to recommend to friends in wheelchairs.

I've eaten here before, it's good food. I had the glazed salmon salad. It looked good and sounded good but wasn't my cup of tea. I'll stick with the traditional entres which are good.

Updated review 1/22 We eat here frequently. The food is as good as ever, but we have noticed that the service has continued to decline in quality. The staff is working very hard. They are simply shorthanded. The result is a poor experience. The server does not check on you and "forgets" or ignores attempts to get more chips and salsa. If you're on a diet, this may work in your favor. No chance of getting a second round before the food comes out. Also you'll have plenty of time to think about your life choices as you wait for a bill. On the plus side, you'll have all the time you need to contemplate and write your review. 10/21 Iconic Sonoran Mexican food and synonymous for the best chips and salsa in Mesa

The stuff was horrible the tamales looked like a crumbling mess even at just regular stores I can get a decent tamale for the same price and it tastes a little better I wouldn’t recommend will not be coming back my whole Family didn’t eat really anything. The chimichanga was greasy and full of flavorless beef just wouldn’t recommend this place there are a bunch of other wonderful places to eat!

What is the history of the building?

Rosa's is famously built upon the grounds of the "massacre at new mesa" that happened in 1865. It was there that the settler party of Tom Mesa was discussing the terms of the cattle drive with Bob University, an experienced cowboy. University felt that Mesa was cheating him on the price of the drive. University ultimately insulted Mesa's mother which Mesa was notoriously sensitive to "your momma" jokes and Mesa drew his pistol and the slaughter commenced. Both men died but neither from any bullets. University, attempting to duck from the gunfire, fell face first in a large cow pie and suffocated. Mesa was thought to have died from a stray Indian arrow but in 1972 a historic autopsy found that the actual cause of death was from a toe nail that was ripped off during the gunfight causing Mesa to bleed to death in a matter of minutes.
