I began as a volunteer here in July. The compassion and love shown to the animals by all the staff and volunteers is what kept me coming back. I have since joined the staff and get to love on the animals even more. I also adopted 3 cats from this facility. I know I am now probably biased, but it really is the best place for animals who are waiting to find their “FUR”ever homes. Don’t hesitate to come for a tour, join the volunteer group, or foster and/or adopt a fur baby. You won’t be disappointed!

On April 11th our dog got out of the fence around 3pm. We called Animal Control Monday morning April 12th and started to give a detailed description of my dog then the lady on the phone said “a guy had called yesterday with a dog that had gotten hit by a car with the same description of him he took him to Nashville vet specialist but he didn’t make it”. I assumed it was because he got hit by the car so I called NVS and they said that they had no record of any dog with that description. I then called Animal Control back atheism lady said “ there’s no way he’s definitely there because yesterday when they (NVS) called us back to tell us his condition they had called him by his first name. Is his name scrappy?” I said “yes” and I drove to NVS. When I got there they still acted like they didn’t have any idea what I was talking about but finally got a hold of someone who did.I believe that unfortunately the only reason she knew what I was talking about is because she had just filled out the paperwork to get scrappy cremated. I asked her to shred that because we wanted to take him home. We talked for a minute then I got to go inside. I asked the lady what scrappys injuries were expecting to se a bad scene.... she then said “he had a broken leg and a broken pelvis” I asked “did he bleed out?” She said “no we actually left it up to Cheatham County Animal Control and they said since he was a stray they wanted to euthanize him” my moth dropped! This 70 pound dog that is well manicured and groomed was in no way shape or form a stray! I got to finally identify him and get his collar that included his tag the phone number on it!!! Why didn’t we get a single call? Even after the initial car accident or the day after they made that decision to euthanize.. we never got the option to say good bye or try to save our insured dog. This system failed us so badly. How many other dogs get labeled as “stray” and tossed in the trash!? I’m so disappointed in our animal control and the protocol we have for these situations needed to be revised. If I could leave zero stars I would!!

I'm pretty sure they don't assist with food but they will accept them. Also will be reassuring for you knowing they are a no kill shelter. Very nice folks. Give them a call. Best of luck
If you message them on fb you'll get an answer pretty quickly. https://www.facebook.com/ccactn/
Like the adoption is free? No clue. But having volunteered here on several occasions, they allow you to come see them at any time unless they're busy or there's a sick animal.

I turned 1 in 1. It was so am emaciated I didn't touch it to see if it was of male or female very skinny very sweet. It had a golden head a great big bushy tail and little fur on its back. It had an expensive flea color on it it was golden in the head golden in the tail and a little bit of gold and a to the body but made mainly White. It is a lovely cat that has survived. I hope it is yours. It is a beautiful and sweet cat. I'm not a great comnuniicator on here. Go look at this sweet, beautiful cat.
