As a national historic landmark, the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse & Museum is a must-see destination that you shouldn’t miss out on. If you’re planning a last-minute trip with family or friends, Ponce Inlet is worth considering. We enjoyed our visit here. Plenty of parking and we also took a walk around the area near the waterfront. Really nice. If you’re looking for a unique adventure, a journey into the past is a worthwhile endeavor. You’ll step back in time as you climb the 175 feet of adventure at the Ponce Inlet Light Station and Museum.

I would definitely recommend a visit here. It took us about 2 hours without rushing to enjoy it all. The price of admission is affordable, something the whole family could enjoy. Wear good shoes to hike the stairs of the lighthouse, many in sandals and flip flops had issues. I withheld a star due to the lady at the desk who sold us the tickets. Once she gave us the cost of admission, she asked to add an additional donation to further the mission. When my husband politely declined she rolled her eyes and copped a mini fit. Her cheery attitude changed. Management needs to teach her to gracefully accept no as an answer.

Well preserved lighthouse and grounds. Lots of information regarding the history and importance of the lighthouse as you walk through multiple small museums. At the top of the lighthouse, which is 203 stairs upward, one has a beautiful view of the Atlantic ocean. We also learned quite a bit about the reflection and refraction of light and how the two work together in a Fresnel lens. Admission tickets are purchased in the gift shop where there are lots of souvenirs to choose from. There is a nature hike, children's playground, and food within walking distance of the lighthouse.

This is a well-kept, clean, and beautiful historic site. I loved the historic explanations making the outbuildings and grounds even more meaningful and educational. The lighthouse is such a gem. The climb is worth it, but it’s quite a climb up the 203 steps - it would be hard to bail out mid-way, so be thoughtful about starting. I would not recommend this for young kids or the elderly. The inside is so well preserved. The gift shop also offers a lovely collection of coastal items. Check out the playground nearby.

Good question. Might want to call and see about that I'm not sure on that one
Yes, there is a section for bus and coach parking.
Yes there is a fee i cant remember the exact price per, but it was $18 for 2 adults & 2 kids. And yes 203 steps to the top for a phenomenal view! And there are other very informative and interesting house exhibits to check out! Well worth the fee!
The park is dog friendly. They even have doggie water fountains. They do expect you to pick up after your pet and bags are provided. The museum itself, however, I don't think allows dogs. Just a hop skip and a jump down the road is lite house point park which also has dog friendly areas on the inlet.
203 like mark said. Tallest lighthouse in FL. There are several platforms on which to stop and rest between stair flights. @Dawn... The lighthouse height is not measured by steps. Sorry, your assumption that St. Augestine is taller is invalid.
Excellent views of a Very nice Lighthouse and Marina near bye
I've spent quite a bit of time climbing the Ponce De Leon light house. You can see a great distance out over the water, so there is always the possibility of seeing dolphins. DEFINITELY bring binoculars, if that is your goal. I try to remember them every time I go. In fact, on one occasion at the top, I saw a pod of what I thought were large, dark colored dolphins, only to find out that it was in fact a group of either Pilot Whales, or Pigmy Sperm Whales. I found out because one beached itself a little ways down on the beach. While I, and many others, were pouring buckets of water over it's body, so as to not dry out, a truck pulled up with a group of Marine Biologists from the animal rehabilitation center close to the light house, and a van from Sea World to help rescue it. Point is, this area is FULL of adventure. You never know what you may see : ) ...just don't forget the binoculars.
You are not allowed to take food or drink past the gift shop (especially not bottles). There is Memorial park next door accessible from the parking lot, and there are several picnic tables, shade trees, and a playground.
Handicapped pass gets folks in free, you sure would think our retired vets. That serves our country would be free. Thank you for serving our country. God bless
If you go down to the jetties New symrna Beach area you can see one from there but you have to walk up to it a little bit of a walk depending how close you are on the beach itself.
Yes you can visit during the week. The stairs count is 204 up and 204 down. Wear comfortable sneakers. It is a tight space and as you are going up others are coming down the stairwell. Definitely a workout.
$6.95 plus tax for adults, but that also includes the outbuildings. There is one building full of the lights, one place documents the history of rafting to the US to flee Cuba. There is a lot to see.
They are open til 6 but take the last guest at 5 if you want to climb up the lighthouse.
Yes, there is one charge to look at the whole complex, including several buildings and the lighthouse. The view from the top of the lighthouse is amazing, but it's quite a cardio workout with over 200 spiral stairs.
There are slips but not directly by lighthouse. Try to call ahead to inquire about public slips.
Yes you certainly can. You can bring all your pets free of charge.
If you want to go to the jetty then there is a fee for the park itself. But for science center and lighthouse, no fee.
There are lots of historical items on the property, and each building on the grounds has its own story
The lighthouse was originally built by many engineers in 1883. Today, it is currently being maintained a third party.
What age do they consider senior citizen cause places have different ages
