Dr. Cohen is a true gift from above. She is not only extremely qualified and educated but extraordinarily empathetic, effective and personable. She is clear and concise and keeps therapy moving but still allows for you to be thoroughly heard. She is extraordinarily perceptive and accurate in her evaluations and reliable and safe. Cannot recommend enough!

I am a professional colleague of Dr. Randi Cohen and have worked with her in the past. She is warm, friendly, perceptive, and highly intelligent. Her training in psychotherapy and psychopharmacology is extensive; these skills allow her to provide a remarkable range of services to her patients. I would refer a patient to her without hesitation.

Questions & Answers

Does she accept Medicare?

Like many psychiatrists, I am "out of network" but can prepare a bill for you to submit to your insurer. I am not in-network with Medicare. These six questions will help clarify how much your insurance company will reimburse you: 1) Do I have "out of network" mental health insurance benefits? 2) What is my mental health deductible and has it been met? 3) How many sessions per year does insurance cover? 4) What month does the coverage end or begin? 5) What is the coverage amount per therapy session? They may ask for a code – if so, tell them 99213 and 90836. More information is available on my website www.drrandicohen.com.

CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT THE SUCCESS RATE IN DEALING WITH ALCOHOLISM AND BIPOLAR DISORDER?

I specialize in the treatment of depression, anxiety, ADHD, life issues, and relationship stressors. I do not specialize in the treatment of alcoholism or bipolar disorder, although I occasionally work with people who are maintaining sobriety or who have a history of bipolar disorder and are now stable, yet want to address underlying issues or prior traumas. Dr. Bryan Shelby is a good psychiatrist in Westport who is a substance abuse specialist. Success in treatment depends on many factors. I have worked with many people who have achieved their goal of moving forward in their life because of our work together. Not everyone makes progress or finds that the approach meets their needs.
