If you're looking for a bank to safeguard your money, keep shopping. I've been with Arvest for about eight years, and they used to be great. Periodically, their fraud department would catch nefarious charges to my account, which I was grateful for. Last fall, the thievery intensified. I had my card number stolen three times despite having an RFID-blocking wallet and not using my card at sketchy places like gas pumps or ATMs. However, this week someone stole $1500 from my account, and it didn't get flagged as fraud despite being a very unusual transaction for my account. Instead of treating it like fraud ought to be treated and reimbursing me straight away, the branch manager, Taylor, told me it could be up to ten business days for them to begin investigating and they would decide at that time whether I was entitled to a provisional credit. Imagine a bank deciding whether you're "entitled" to your own money that they let someone steal. The manager even had the audacity to ask me whether I had tried to contact the merchant to resolve the situation. REALLY?! She went on to allege that fraud has been on the rise since Covid, but no one I've spoken to who doesn't bank at Arvest has experienced anything like this. I've withdrawn most of my cash from my account now and went to a bank with a more competent fraud department & better customer service. I would recommend that others do the same. Your money isn't safe if you're banking with Arvest.
