Pros: 1) Location. Easy walking distance to Oldtown, right on the river (many units have river views) and with easy access to the Mt. Vernon Trail and nearby parks. 2) Units are relatively updated with stainless steel appliances, hard wood floors, and lots of windows. Additionally, the grounds are beautiful and well maintained. 3) There are trash rooms on each floor which was convenient. 4) The custodial staff are very attentive and do a good job and some of the leasing office and maintenance staff are very friendly and helpful... Cons: 1) Some of the leasing office and maintenance staff are very unfriendly and unhelpful. The person in the office when I moved in was one of the rudest people I've ever encountered and when there was a leak in my bathroom ceiling it took months of maintenance requests before the actual source of the problem was fixed (after a large hole had opened in my ceiling). In general, it wasn't unusual for it to take a couple maintenance requests to get something fixed. 2) The plumbing. The building is old so it frequently has plumbing issues (sinks and showers not draining properly, frequently clogging toilets, etc.). 3) Laundry is expensive ($1.75 each for wash and dry) and there is only one laundry room per building so there are far more residents than there are available washers and dryers. Additionally, the payment system they use frequently goes out rendering many of the machines unusable (although I will say the system they implemented late last year is somewhat more stable than the one before). 4) Many of the residents smoke and while some are considerate and do it outside away from the building, many do it inside where the smoke travels through vents and hallways making your apartment smell, especially in the winter. 5) There is no centrally controlled A/C or heat. A/C is through a single window unit which is set into the wall and at the height of summer when it is most needed, the A/C unit overheats frequently and becomes completely ineffective. The heat is radiated through the floors and in the winter is typically way too warm (on upper floors with the windows closed the temperature would typically stabilize around 82 degrees). So overall you have very little direct control over the temperature of your unit. 6) The building is dog friendly which on principle I don't have a problem with but many people's dogs barked frequently at all hours of the day/night which could be annoying. 7) The complex has a pool but during the year I lived there it was never open once, despite repeated emails from management assuring residents that it would open. 8) Rents are raised significantly year over year. Overall, not a bad building but it definitely has some issues. If you can get past those issues or if they're not things you care about it's not a bad place to live.

NEVER MOVE HERE!!! It’s a beautiful location and not too bad building but don’t let that fool you. The staff here is the absolute WORST. I moved in to half my appliances broken and it took a WEEK to get a response, right after I moved in. Since then any interaction with the leasing office has been just as challenging. I had to call 4 times and email twice just for a freaking parking pass. I strongly recommend never moving in here unless you want endless headaches with what should be very small, fixable things. Tragic bc like I said - great location and okay building. Just the worst staff I’ve ever encountered, completely incompetent.

I have been living here since August 2020. The location is perfect , and customer service is great as well! Unfortunately, there is always a loud neighbor (neighbors yelling and screaming. I do not know what kind of drugs they do.). I hope to move from here next year. I need a quiet place where I feel safe.

Pros: Maintenance, Custodial, and Leasing office staff are awesome. Custodial goes above and beyond. The common areas are always sparkling clean, and the staff was always so nice and I enjoyed talking to them. Maintenance would fix things within a few minutes of receiving the request (literally). They even came after midnight on a Sunday because my smoke alarm battery died and I couldn't reach it. Location cannot be beat. There’s a beautiful trail at the end of the parking lot, and you can go down to the river and hide away from the bustling city. You can walk into town very easily and there are a ton of stores and restaurants. Building is quiet, the only time you can hear neighbors is if you’re in the hallway. Though I lived in a studio, the design is great and there is a lot of storage. Generally, it was a positive experience living here for the past 10 months. Cons- my car was broken into in the parking lot despite it being locked. And with the trail head being there, it is very easy for people that do not live in the building to cause trouble. Nothing could be done, unfortunately, as there are no cameras in the lot. Packages were also stolen from the lobby or opened and gone through. This stopped, so I’m assuming the person moved or was kicked out. They do offer a service called Fetch that will deliver your package at a time of your choosing. Unfortunately, the package that I had stolen was sent by a family member that was unaware of Fetch. You have no control over your heat, and it gets very hot in those little apartments. The heated floors are a wonderful addition, but my apartment would be stifling and I had to beg them to turn my heat off. Once they did, it made the winter much more bearable. The pool never opened this summer, which was a bummer. The price for a studio apartment is high, which I know is the be expected in the area, but it was ultimately why I had to move. I didn’t want to leave, believe me. The pros definitely outweigh the cons, and it was my first place here in the DMV area. If you can afford it, I’d recommend it. I knocked a star off because of my car being broken into.

Questions & Answers

How old are the elevators? When are they going to be replaced? One month has passed and this elevator is not fixed. Why is the management office so quiet about it?

Never it seems. #1 reason i will not renew my lease. Living on the top floor is a hassle here.

What’s with the shattered door in the front lobby this morning? And no one there to make sure everyone was okay or take care of it? And no follow up from Bridgeyard management? What happened? Who broke into Bridgeyard apartments last night?

It’s clear they do not care about the residents here. Mickea Mance even told me she didn’t care what I had to say, what suggestions I had and didn’t want to listen to me. She actually said that to my face. So rude and unsatisfactory. I cannot wait to move out.

When will you provide heat in compliance with Virginia state law?

We were told that our apartment is not properly insulated and nothing could really be done because it's an older building. We cover the ac units with blankets and run electric heaters. It's worse since we moved to an 8th floor unit. We are moving out of state in the spring, but regardless I don't think we would've renewed.
