My Alx Renew bill so far for 2022 is TRIPLE my entire bill for 2021 and it’s only August. What is going on?

I have lived a lot of places and paid sewage and water combine way less than what this utility charges, which convinces me they are scamming. We are just held captive. These sewage bills are consistently higher than the water bills. It doesn't make any sense to pay for water twice. Other cities charge a fraction of what they charge for sewage. This definitely makes me want to relocate to another city in Nova.

Update following the owner's response: No, this issue remains unresolved. I'm living in Poland and Alexandria Renew is sending a check to my mother's house in NY, which she will not be able to cash as you can only put the check in my name. This would be funny if it wasn't so frustrating. I paid my last bill with Virginia American Water for the same time period and they didn't take an auto payment from my bank account a second time. So why is it that Alexandria Renew did? Terrible! You can never reach anyone on the phone. I also just closed my account and paid my last bill for the the last few days of service two weeks ago and they automatically debited my account for the same amount again, well after I closed my account. I'll be filling a dispute with my bank. How ridiculous!

*Edited* I spoke with someone from the billing department, specifically Brittany S and she addressed our issue and refunded us the money! Thank you so much, Brittany for all of your help!!! My boyfriend tried to pay our bill online, it went through and said successfully processed with an email sent. A few weeks later, we receive another bill saying our payment was not received. Apparently the bank account was entered incorrectly, yet their system said the payment was successfully processed. They WILL NOT WAIVE the fee even though their system should have caught the mistake. I don't think this is fair as we tried to make our payment on time. Also, super concerning that their system obviously doesn't work as it should....wonder who else is being incorrectly charged.

Hi Barbara. AlexRenew is the water resource recovery facility for the City of Alexandria. We clean your wastewater. The City of Alexandria manages refuse pick-up. I visited the City's website to find out if they have garbage pick-up, and it looks like the schedule of service for the Independence Day Holiday week is today, Wednesday, July 3. Virginia American Water Company provides us with all of our account information and meter readings. For this reason all of our account holders must also have an account with them. If you wish to stop service with us you must please first do so with VAW. They can be reached at (800) 452-6863 or (703) 549-7080, Monday through Friday, and from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. After your final day of service and once your account is closed with Virginia American Water Company, they will feed over your information to us and we will automatically generate, and mail to you, your last month’s bill. This bill will be mailed to the address you provided Virginia American Water Company, so if you have a new billing address please make sure it is up-to-date with them. If you have a credit balance on your last bill, please call us at (703) 549-3383 to begin the refund process.
