Hotel staff very friendly and receptive to guests needs. Had an issue with some rambunctious guests in the room above me and the staff responded quickly to allow me to move my room to the top floor. The hotel itself was in need of repairs, pool was closed half our visit, treadmills need to be repaired, AC not functional in lobby and hallway areas, 1 of 3 washers broken, 1 dryer ate my money, just minor things that add up to a less than desirable stay. There are plenty of food options within walking distance or a short drive. There is a newer Hampton Inn within 15 minutes from this one and I will probably stay there my next visit to Iowa. Overall wasn't a terrible stay. Update to my review - the last night of my stay, the AC in my room caught fire and filled the room with smoke. Smoke detectors didn't sound nor did the sprinklers go off to alert me. I woke up to the smell of smoke (electrical fire) from the AC at 3am. I turned off the AC and opened the window to clear the smoke. Told the front desk about it at checkout in the morning. They didn't seem very shocked about the incident.

Why is it that the toilets are small & so low? Is it to see the build up of dust & grime in all corners? The dust build up under pictures? The only place I seen that was 'clean spotless' was the breakfast area. When the lady's cleaned & filled, they didn't throw crumbs on the floor. They were happy & willing to help. People with canes can not walk on the floors wet or dirty floors.

Positive: The breakfast was very good. Negative: The staff had not yet finished cleaning our room when we arrived shortly before 5:00 p.m. I could not get either of the treadmills in the fitness center to operate. I noticed some trash under our bed that had apparently been left by a previous guest.

We arrived after a 11 hour drive. Checked in and put all our suitcases in the room. We unpacked and my wife went into the bathroom to shower. She ran out of the bathroom and said 'you need to see this..." she said look at the filthy bathroom and especially the tub...there is long black hair all over..." The tub and shower wall was completely dry since my wife had not yet turned on the water. See pic. Also mildew on shower wall. See pic. The floor needed swept and the carpet is dirty. I'm 76 and my wife 70, and too tired move all our stuff ...we decided to do without a shower tonight and WE WILL NEVER STAY IN A HAMPTON unless we do a complete room exam BEFORE we check in.
