Our family loves the ABQ BioPark Zoo. Small and doable in a day. Take the internal zoo train for a 15 minute break from walking around, or go between the zoo an the aquarium/ botanic gardens for more family fun. The main onsite cafe offers good food (really!), and there are other snack options throughout the park. During the colder months there are several animals off exhibit, which is why I don't give it 5 stars. Edit October 2022 - there is no longer a train at the zoo.

Some day this Zoo will be 5 stars, and I believe one of the best in the country, I’ve been to plenty of zoos. But they have some issues, mostly because of “avian bird flu” really!! Why would you lock up all the birds, and penguins inside? Is that healthy for them? There’s no problem here! and if there was why are we allowed on the property? Much construction 🚧 going on, looks like it’s going to be nice when it’s finished. Would be nice if I could purchase a cold 🍺 beer, if the one stand was even open. It was great seeing the Mommy 🦍 gorilla, and orangutan 🦧 carrying babies. Amphibious, and reptile section was amazing. Very large Tortoise mating was interesting 😬. Wish we could be closer to the Giraffes, and missing 🐻❄️ polar bears. I’m lookin forward to going back but it won’t be in the near future.

Yes, you can also bring in food and picnic in the grass area
You can do it online or in person.
There is also bus transportation close to Zoo
The BioPark does not do birthday party bundles. But they do allow you to take your own food in and they have a nice grass area to sit at. There is not many tables for the public but the grassy area is fairly large. Our family loves to celebrate birthdays there.
Yes but there is only a certain number for the day available so if they sell out then you will be turned away. No you don't have to buy tickets for the penguins.
Yes. It closes early so try to be there at least by 12 noon to enjoy all the exibits
You can buy tickets at the gate however if they sell out of the number of tickets they allow for the day you will be turned away
No proof is needed, but I highly recommend you wear your mask.
Wheelchairs are available at the Jungle Wheels shop at the Zoo or the Shark Reef Cafe on the main plaza at the Aquarium for $10 for an all-day rental. Wheelchairs are available on a very limited basis, first-come, first-served. To ensure your comfort during your visit, we strongly recommend that you bring your own wheelchair. ECVs (electronic scooters) are available for $30 at the Zoo only, plus a $100 refundable deposit. Single strollers are $10, double strollers are $12.
Getting online is better.. all are priced separately... Some days are sold out for the aquarium. So,yes online is better.. 👍👍
You need to go to the website and paid in advance the entrance tickets at least 2 days before because the best time to be there is at the morning hours the time entrance is in the ticket and they recommend the visit should be no more than 2.5 hours so everyone can enjoy the park.
If there is a certain limit of entrances and they put them by schedule
"What can I bring to the BioPark? A cooler, food (cannot be catered), umbrella, chairs or blankets to sit on." From their website, Rules & Regulations.
Only registered service animals - and even then, only in certain areas. There are places in the zoo where they do no allow any animals at all.
