Worst ER services ever seen in my life! Arrive at 3pm with my mom whom is elderly and not feeling well. 7 hours and 20 minutes and we’re still in waiting room! Yes they did vitals 3 times, blood work, xray and a breathing treatment but still sent us back to waiting area amongst all the other sick people. Including ones throwing up on floor and I’m bags! Could not give a update on how long we would be, bathroom dirty, didn’t see them wipe nothing! Not even the pen that each person came in and signed electronically with including a man with blood all over his hands. Worst experience ever here. Use to use this hospital all the time when lived closer but absolutely will not return here ever again and I would suggest others didn’t!!!

We came to the ER because my wife had high fever and chills. They send me and my 4 yrs old out because we could not be with our patient. We had to go out to the parking lot at 3 am in cold weather. They took the vitals and then my wife had to sit there and wait for 5 hours before a doctor saw her. They kept us for two extra days in the hospital because someone didn’t do his/her job to order my wife’s medication. There is only one specialist in the whole hospital, so good luck when you need to be seen by a specialist. They pretend to follow the protocol but actually no body does, because the only protocol they follow is to make things harder for you like sending us out. In addition, there is trash and used mask all around the entrance of the hospital ( see the pictures). I am sure someone is getting paid for it out of taxpayer money. This is John Hopkins, so Howard county heath department needs to take notice. Too bad I can’t give less than one star. Very disappointing experience living is expensive place like Columbia. The only good experience we had was in the delivery and labor department and that’s because the nursing staff is comparatively good and above you have your own OBGYN. All the good reviews are about the labor and delivery department. Go somewhere else if you can, even an urgent care

Amazing ER and Medical/Nursing staff during my stay. I felt taken care of every step of the way. I was attended to and my health needs were not brushed off. Everyone took my symptoms seriously and addressed them immediately, plus they provided amazing follow-up referrals.

Yes. They have a patient advocate.
The hospital offers ESPN stations only. They do not have MASN or MASN2.

See your doctor and get a referral. Or call oncology and see if someone points you in the right direction for treatment. Best of luck.

No
You should see your Primary Care Doctor instead. There's no point in waiting 20 hours to been seen at the hospital only to be waved off to a specialist. If your PCP is unavailable, try a walk-in urgent care Clinic like Patient First. You can ususally get time with a doctor in under and hour or two. Ultimately, your insurance plan should be the biggest deciding factor in where you go. Does your health insurance require you to have a referral to see a specialist? If yes, obtain it from your pcp or a doctor at Patient First. If no, book an appointment directly with a radiation therapy specialist and skip the middle man. In either case, going to the ER is pointless unless you are in critical about-to-die conditions
