If you like covered bridges, this one is worth the visit. Peaceful setting with tables for a picnic if desired. We went on a weekday as reviews suggested gets busy on weekends and we only saw one other person on our visit.

This is the oldest and longest wooden bridge in Georgia, built in the 1840’s and measuring 391 feet. Amazing history and pretty awesome!

Slightly off the beaten path but well worth the side trip. Not for XL vehicles. A large steel framework in road well before you could enter bridge keeps over sized vehicles from getting into trouble and /or damaging this spectacular & well preserved example of old world construction. You can park and walk the short distance. You can drive into and across the bridge in appropriately sized vehicles. Small picnic area and tables on one end of the crossing. Nice if no mosquitoes. Continue across the far end of it and the road turns to graded & maintained dirt & gravel. Any car or truck can drive it to the asphalt end and back to the main road. Nice side trip and old farm sites along the back road.
