Large gap under the door. All the grass from the trimming they did flew in under it. Floors were so dirty I wore my shoes the whole time. Wouldn't dare sit on the couch. Shower was nice. Pool was dirty and had hair floating everywhere in it. So gross! But, I did like that it was an indoor/outdoor pool. But there was no way to leave the outdoor part without swimming back under to go inside. So I couldn't dry in the sun and go to my room. Other people climbed the locked gate to get out. Lots of loud construction going on while we were there. Accidentally gave us a handicap room and said they couldn't change it.

Let me preface by saying that my standards weren't all that high going into this hotel stay-- I was worried about the reviews because they were so mixed, but went out on a limb because we were only staying in town one night and had a late check in. We had plans to visit Jackson's Hermitage just down the road, so the location and price were driving the decision to stay here. Pros: Yes, the service and staff were excellent. Check in was a very friendly experience, as with all staff interactions. We actually checked in right at 10 and my 9yo was dying to swim. Even though the pool closed at 10, we rushed her there to swim quietly for 15 minutes and no one kicked us out, which was appreciated. The following morning, the pool was locked even though it was supposed to open at 9, and the front desk rushed to find someone with the key to open it and apologized greatly. That morning I had accidentally left my car door open while loading our luggage, and the front desk attendant kept an eye on it. After a few minutes, when I hadn't immediately returned, she shut my car door for me and continued to watch out for me to let me know about it. Again, great staff interactions and I got the impression they are working hard to do a good job. Cons: Yes, the rooms smell. It's obviously an older hotel with quite a bit of wear and tear. I also got the impression that they are understaffed... realistically, there's only so much a small crew can do in order to maintain a basic level of cleaning on a daily basis. I didn't see any bugs, like some of the reviews mentioned. There was buildup on the bathroom tub and floors, and stains on carpet and upholstery. Don't count on breakfast unless you're OK with mini muffins from the grocery store (We all thought they tasted gross) and packaged instant oatmeal in a variety pack of flavors. No extra toppings, just hot water and sugar. There was OJ and coffee in the lobby as well, but we opted for Starbucks down the road instead. There's also a Waffle House right next to the hotel. The pool was OK-- a little dirty, but standard among hotel pools. The location was rather sketchy-- it's tucked away from the road and not very well lit. A smoking area was designated across the parking lot, but I felt safer to smoke in my car. The light/fan vent in our bathroom went out and we had to use the bathroom in the dark. When we let the front desk know, they said to reset the electric by hitting the GFI switch on the outlet by the sink. Once we did, the light/fan started working again. However, it blew out several more times that morning. Kind of strange; I've never experienced that at a hotel before. Given a second chance, I wouldn't stay here again. The lack of breakfast was a deal breaker here-- with the extra $$ spent getting breakfast, we could've had a much nicer hotel with breakfast included. This place wasn't worth the $150 (double queen) after taxes and fees.

Comfortable bed but dirty and dated room. Pretty sure the "Dirt" on the pillow and light switch(es) pictures is really mold. Weird spills marks on the furniture. I should not have to wipe down a room when I stay there. Some of the marks are are most likely burn marks from people being careless with cigarettes. You could do worse but you would have to try.

This is a nice Super 8! Check in was easy & the staff are very pleasant. The rooms are a little dated, but clean and comfy. A big bonus is the indoor pool! Breakfast is your typical grab and go type fare, but I always appreciate hotels having any type of free breakfast. The entrance is a little hard to find, but it sits off of the road, which helps cut down on the traffic noise. The price seems to fluctuate a lot, but if you catch it at the right time, it's pretty economical, compared to other hotels in town.
