I started working with my dietitian as soon as I left ED treatment, and it was the best decision I could have made for myself in my recovery. I was definitely afraid of going, but thankfully my dietitian dispelled my preconceived notions. Through my ups and downs of recovery, and there have been many, she has continued to meet me where I'm at and encourage me. I remember the first time I had a "down", I was reluctant to tell her as I thought she would be angry at me. The very opposite happened. I am forever thankful to Nourish Family, especially to Melanie, for working with me on the hard but good road to recovery. I recommend them 1000%. Ps, the office in Towson is cozy and beautiful.

I have been counseled by Diana at Nourish Family Nutrition for a little over a year. And for the first time in a very long time, I feel comfortable with myself. It's not because of the weight loss (though that is really fantastic), it's because I am making really smart choices about how I treat my body. And that feels good. We started out by figuring out my metabolic resting rate. That was super eye opening. I figured that at my age, my metabolism had all but stopped. But I discovered this wasn't true at all. It was very motivating from the start. (This process is kind of weird and you drool a bit, but it was worth the extra expense for me. I wanted to know my baseline to see what I was working with.) And I have a degree in Health Education so it's not like I don't know how to read labels or count fat grams. I understand portion control. But Diana has given me real solutions that have just become part of my lifestyle. I lost sixteen pounds in the first two months, and that was just by making smarter food and portion choices. That is all...it was mid-winter so starting a new exercise routine was out of the question. I have never felt hungry or like I was ripped off with half a meal. Most of my work experience has been (in one way or another) customer service related so I am not very patient with those who do it poorly. Diana is more than just my nutrition-guru. I consider her a friend. You'll be glad you started going here. And so will your hips :)

I have worked with Diana off and on since having my first baby six years ago. I appreciate Diana's approach to nutrition - a mix of science and mindfulness. I've done Weight Watchers a number of times, and I was never successful despite following the plan. Diana helped me find out that I wasn't eating enough calories. She got me set up with the optimal calorie range and ideal combination of protein, carbs, and fats. She has worked with me over the years to adjust these numbers as needed based on my lifestyle changes. Perhaps most importantly, Diana changed the way I look at food. I grew up in a household where food was often restricted and my stepmom was always on a fad diet. Through working with Diana, I learned to eat mindfully and to not use my eating as a form of judgment. This view, I believe, was the key to my success. After having my second child, I lost 50 pounds through mindful eating and exercise. When I went for my physical last year, my cholesterol was normal for the first time in my adult life. I am preparing to run my fourth half marathon in a couple of weeks. Diana provided the knowledge and support I needed for a true lifestyle change. I'm not only proud of my accomplishments, but I am also happy to have the knowledge to pass down to my children so they don't grow up with the same unhealthy thoughts about food, exercise, and body image that I did.

Diana has helped me to get off of my medications for diabetes and high cholesterol. I was able to finally lose weight and keep it off. She provided lots of support along my journey, as well as recipes, food lists and was available between appointments to check in by phone and email. I highly recommend her!

Questions & Answers

How many visits will I need?

Nourish Family Nutrition | Jul 21, 2022
Nourish Family Nutrition | Jul 21, 2022

Everything we do at Nourish is completely individualized. When you schedule as a new client, you are not committing to a program and you will work with your dietitian on a schedule for follow up appointments based on your needs. The majority of our clients check in weekly, biweekly or monthly but this is completely dependent upon what you and your dietitian decide is right for you.

Do you accept health insurance?

Nourish Family Nutrition | Jul 21, 2022

Yes, we accept most commercial health insurance including CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (and other BCBS plans), Cigna, Aetna, United (UHC), UMR, Hopkins EHP, Anthem. Most of our clients pay nothing out of pocket. Maryland law requires telehealth to be paid just like an office visit. We do not accept Medicare, Medicaid or any managed Medicaid plans.

Do you offer virtual/telehealth/online appointments?

Yes! All of our appointments are virtual telehealth using Zoom. You don't have to take time out of your day to drive to an office or worry about parking, you can meet with one of our dietitian nutritionists from wherever you are. We use a HIPAA-compliant, secure version of Zoom. Health insurance covers virtual appointments the same as an office appointment and most of our clients pay nothing out of pocket.
