When I travel to CO I always start my trip here. It's a good place to get aclimated to the altitude and the campground is First come First serve (reservation not required). That being said you can reserve some sites. The hiking here is steller, but beware this is bear country and being unarmed is ill advised. The camp host is friendly and more than happy to answer question. All in all I have never had a bad experience here. If you have a big rig, the gravel road up to the site will rattle your teeth out.

A fairly privative campground with a few outstanding tent and small RV sites. $21 a night for a trailer, and no water! But as John Denver sang close to heaven.

We have camped at this sight multiple times and have never been left wanting for beauty. If you want remote and quiet, this is it!

Off of road 12 you have to drive 4.5 miles on rough dirt road to get to the campground. If you have a trailer or RV you're fine but if you're a tent type camper there is little to no shade on your site. I thought it should be somewhat secluded but no, there's a lot of traffic, not exactly peaceful camping. The views are nice, the campground host is awesome! But it's not for me, I will not return.

Yes, it's great for small trailers. But if you have a large trailer, anything over 27 feet, you are going to be limited on which spots you could camp in. The place is really designed for smaller campers, but a few large spots are available.
We drove the road from highway 12 in our Ram Pickup pulling a 27 foot travel trailer. It's a little bumpy with some pot holes, but if you go slow, you will be OK.
