I highly recommend the Quilted Skein! They have an amazing selection of yarns. Including silk, linen, wool, and hand spun. The staff are very knowledgeable and quite helpful. They also have quilting supplies but I’m a crocheter so I didn’t snap photos of that part of the store. We found them when we were on our way to Austin from Houston and stopped off to take a break. When I walked in I couldn’t believe my eyes! I felt like a kid in a candy store! The boutique yarn shops in Houston have gone out of business so my options are the big box stores that don’t carry hand spun or higher end “luxurious” fiber. The 1.5 hour drive from Houston is well worth the trip if you knit or crochet . I’ve been a few times since I found it and I plan on going back frequently.

A wonderland for fabriholics, especially those who love Kaffe Fassett, Tula Pink and Marcia Derse, or for knitters. This lovely shop housed in an old building is next door to the Texas Quilt Museum. Helpful staff in on hand to work you through the overload of beautiful fabric. It's such a delightful store.

The Quilted Skein is a must see & visit store for ALL of your quilting projects and needs. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The fabric selection is second-to-none. You won’t be disappointed!

What a hidden gem. Fantastic selection of yarn and fabric. Stephen is great to talk to and get advice from related to knitting. There are so many great brands to choose from. The prices are reasonable. They also have some kits. Will definitely return when in the area.

Greg, thank you for your question. Yes the 2021 Quilter’s Trek kit is now available. Check it out on our website, www.thequiltedskein.com
Yes we do. We carry Chai Goo circular knitting needles as well as Knitter's Pride.
Patricia, check the name of that fabric because I don’t know of a Philip Jacoba by that name. I checked the Freespirit site and there is not one by that name. We have many collections by Kaffe Fasset and Philip Jacobs and would be glad to help. Thank you, Stephen
We are just about equidistant between Houston and Austin. Depending on where you are in either city it is between 45 to 1 hour to The Quilted Skein. Come and enjoy some of the other sites historic La Grange has to offer.
