My father was taken to the Citadel after leaving the hospital in a severely weakened state from meningitis. No one contacted us for plan of treatment to regain strength. He was supposed to receive multiple types of therapy, but not sure if any was given beyond helping him to the bathroom. There is no communication at all, you are left guessing. Case worker doesn’t answer her phone and refuses to return calls. Find any other place than this one! We took my father out of Citadel and he had to return to the hospital to treat the huge sores that had developed on his feet and rear because of the lack of care he received there. Doctors orders were to elevate legs, but my father was placed in a wheelchair at the beginning of the day and just sat, as he was too weak to move himself. Do not even think of putting anyone you care about at this facility.

This was an absolutely horrific experience! I am in a wheelchair but was put into a bed with no access to my wheelchair. But worst of all my roommate had her TV full volume 24 hours a day despite my pleading with her and the staff for some relief in the a.m. hours.

Pros: Beautiful campus, beautiful apartment layouts, good pool, good exercise room, very friendly staff, good selection of fun things to do on campus. This facility took a terrible hit from Covid, not so much from positive residents and employees but services were dropped and staff changed so radically that the before and after Covid have been a very difficult transition back to a semblance of normal. Cons: Lack of adequate staff in all areas, the buildings are not getting the necessary upkeep due to lack of enough maintenance employees. (They are trying to hire in all areas) We hope as residents to be part of the improvement by being supportive of and encouraging to staff so they can have pride in their work. We have found the residents to be very friendly and we love it here.
