I went in office to make an appointment last week. The gentleman told me they could get me in on Tuesday and had me pick a time. It is now Tuesday so I ask yo leave 1.5 hours early from work (that I now need to make up), drove 40 minutes in a thunderstorm to be told my appointment isn't for another 3 weeks and is via phone! This was never communicated when I made the appointment. I am so upset that I wasted my time and gas due to an employees lack of communication.

No. Most is done by mail or your account online. Beware of calls. Call the social security administration yourself if you are uncertain.

We have completed the appeal for benefits online. Do we need to make an appointment to provide the documentation for our appeal? We have completed SSA-44 and have the documents available for review. I would prefer not to mail the documents.
Social Security is now changing the ID number to something other than your SSN. I don't know if that will delay getting one. You should take a photo id, proof of residency, and maybe your birth certificate.

Either go to the office with photo id or go online to Social Security website and request a print out of your earnings and contributions. It will tell you your benefits.
