I called a few places, some low-balled right off the bat. This place didn't, they matched the going rate of most. They also guaranteed the money and that they wouldn't change it once they got there and saw the condition of the vehicle (not that it wasn't as described, but that even if it had more damaged then described they'd still give me the same amount). The only down part of the transaction was that their check (made out by Bank of America) put the pay to the order of BELOW the amount of the check. As I wanted to immediately deposit this via mobile to make sure it was legit, my bank's mobile app kept saying the amount didn't match. Eventually, I tried a secondary bank I use and that bank (though not very big) accepted it. The tow driver was polite, though I felt so bad for him because he only had broken English and couldn't understand why I was upset about the check. But while he was standing there, he called his boss (unbeknownst to me) and she called me. She asked what was wrong, that the driver said I was upset about the check, but I explained, it wasn't him or her, but the way Bank of America laid out the check. I told her I was able to get it deposited through my credit union instead. I was impressed with the customer service--they really wanted to make sure everything was okay.
