Merty is a good man. Thank you for making the experience fun and efficient. I was feeling bummed when i walked in, but I walked out with a light heart and a smile on my face. Thank you.

So happy to have found this place. The service was fast, friendly, and professional. Marty is wonderful!

The folks at defender could benefit from some manners and salesmanship. Unless you’re buying an overpriced firearm or taking a lesson on the range, forget about getting any sort of helpful service.

First off I want to give a huge thanks to Cheyenne for helping out me and my buddy on our first visit to Defender Outdoors. It's a friendly, fun, and safe conveniently located shooting range. We're definitely coming back!!

You need to have a membership to get them but the guest pass lets them shoot for free and get free hearing and eye protection just like you. With the membership you also get discounted firearm rentals which is a big plus.
Yes, we have LTC classes every weekend. You can find all the information here https://defenderoutdoors.com/courses/license-to-carry/
There are about 5 or more classes each week, every week. You can see them all here. https://defenderoutdoors.com/shooting-center-events/ Defender Outdoors does offer a Hero discount on membership for First Responders, but for classes you'll need to discuss that with one of the training staff members.
Hi CW - we generally say 10 and up, however we do allow younger ages based on skill and experience. If you would like to call our facility at 817-935-8377 and speak to an Instructor they will be happy to give you additional information as it may be possible this will not be an issue.
Not that I'm aware of.
Yes they do. No steel case or steel core, I also believe they don't like the aluminum cases
They do have a gunsmith on site.
Hi Daveon, as of now, the law states that you must be 18 years or older to purchase a long rifle, so yes you can.
Hi Mary, we do purchase firearms. You will need to bring your firearm(s) in any time during our open business hours and our Retail Manager and Gunsmith will inspect it, and then if we would like to purchase it we will make you an offer. They will not discuss pricing prior to seeing the firearm in person. Hope this is helpful.
Yes, you need a valid DL or state-issued ID in order to shoot.
Our FFL transfer fee is $25
Yes absolutely, as long as you sign the Liability Waiver and you are on the range with your child the entire time.
Yes they do! 10 for just one or 20 for unlimited
12 gauge is allowed at our outdoor shotgun range, Clay Sports Ranch. It is not allowed at our indoor shooting range.
Members are allowed to draw from holster, non-members cannot. However, we do offer classes in which you can practice drawing from holster, and you do not have to be a Member to take any of our courses. You can see current classes here https://defenderoutdoors.com/shooting-center/training/. Please note we are constantly adding course dates for classes so continue to check for additional classes you may not see right now.
Hi Zack - you can shoot ARs on the 25 yard pistol lane, however you cannot shoot pistols on the 85 yard rifle lanes.
Hi Domonique - we do not offer layaway however you are welcome to come check out our 6,000 sq ft retail store in which we do have a ton of guns available. We almost always have sale or clearance guns in which you can still save a lot of money, especially as you are not incurring a FFL transfer fee and other interest fees.
No they use to sell on line but stopped if you want to purchase from them you have to go to their store in Texas
They're a class3 dealer an have FullAutoFridays. Shouldn't be a problem but I'd call to verify
Though Defender Outdoors does have a Nerf Gun shooting experience for children's birthday parties, it isn't something that is always available. Unless the gift certificate is from/for Defender Outdoors, I don't think you'll be able to use it. But, there is probably a different place in DFW that you can use that gift certificate. You might want to look on the gift certificate for a business name or website for where you can use it.
Hello - yes, she can shoot prone on our Rifle range, and the firearms you mentioned are not a problem.
Hi Mark, yes we do! You can check out our Youth courses here https://defenderoutdoors.com/training/training-courses/youth-training-programs/ or you can also always book a private lesson with one of our Instructors; it is a great way to get one-on-one time customized to the skills of your child.
Hi Cynthia, I put our class schedule below, where you can find all available dates. https://defenderoutdoors.com/training/defender-training-academy-calendar/ We typically have a class every other Saturday. Early Bird pricing is $75, and if you register within a week of the class date, the price is $110.
$20/hr for pistol range $25/hr for rifle range All pricing is found online
Hi Brady - it is $65 for one for an hour, or $95 for three for an hour. You are required to purchase our ammo to use in our firearms however, we do not allow outside ammo. You also can enjoy $10 full auto magazines on Fridays for try. It includes your range fee and target so a great deal if you want to run a few mags first. We would love to have you in!
You need ID that have your clear information....
No, just a pistol range (25 yards), and a rifle range (85 yards).
Around $125 accourding to their website.
84 yds
Call them.
Indeed, but the first few times you visit they will ask to see the ammo your going to use just to make sure you're not using steel rounds. All guns must be secured in a case/bag, or holster.
How much does it cost to rent a gun to shoot, and do you need a permit to shoot the full auto guns?
We're sorry you had an unpleasant experience, would you mind telling us more about what happened? We pride ourselves on being a welcoming and customer-focused establishment, whether you come for an event, to shoot, or to purchase.
The following types of ammunition ARE permitted: new or factory re-manufactured brass cased handgun and rifle ammunition in its original packaging. To my knowledge, they don't have them in the retail space, but you can but them online at their website and have them shipped for free to the store.
