Johnson's Campground and RV Park

We stayed here 4 nights in July 2022. I have read some reviews prior to reserving here. Let me address some things other reviewers have said about this campground. 1st. I've stayed in many private RV campgrounds. It is not a surprise to me to know that the sites are closed together. I have no problem with that. After all, it's a private park. 2nd the sites aren't leveled. I alway carry leveling blocks in case the jacks extend to the fullest. I learned that when I bought my rv 4years ago. So it wasn't an issue for me that the 2 sites I stayed at weren't leveled. 3rd as far as the sites not being maintained, I don't know what their definition of maintained mean. To my opinion they are maintained well. Now onto my review. The site is on a hill which means 2 things. 1. You get an awesome view no matter what direction you face. 2. It gets windy so don't leave you awning out or your tent unattended. Open your windows and let the fresh cold air come in the rv. If you need to walk to the office, they have 2 trails that take you there. They have a laundromat which used coins, and there is a coin machine on site, a café, and showers. To use the showers, the staff gives you a token per person per day. The showers last 6 minutes which in my opinion it's enough time. It's good to take a hot shower in a space larger than the RV shower, my opinion. The sites are clean, and the staff is very friendly. Their quite hours are from 10pm - 7am. They have cabin, and about 80 tent sites. They do have Wi-Fi, but uphill doesn't work. It works on the sites closest to the office. FOR THOSE WHO HAVE RVs LARGER THAN 21FT, AND WANT TO VISIT THE ST. MARY ENTANCE AT GLACIER NATIONAL PARK, THIS MESSAGE IS FOR YOU. The St. Mary entrance to the Glacier National Park has a 21 ft max length. You will be turned around. They lady in the office told me they do accommodate those people that have a motorhome, travel trailer or 5th wheel. They can leave their RV at the campground for a daily fee while you go visit the park. That is a nice thing they do. If you can't get a reservation inside Glacier National Park, reserve it here. It is almost infront of the St Mary entrance road amd it's just as good. We will for sure come back again and stay here.

We stayed for 12 days and it was amazing the whole time! The staff is so helpful and kind. There was even a mix up in our reservation spot, which they fixed immediately and we ended up with an even better spot! Nothing but great words for this campground! St. Mary itself is the quieter side of Glacier, and Johnson’s Campground is situated right by the entrance of going to the sun.

It is fine if visiting Glacier for the whole day and just sleeping there. Sites are very close together and poorly maintained if none at all. Laundry room works just fine and Wifi is not usable at all. You can do better but the price is not bad.

Tent camping is pleasant. Grassy areas are comfortable and only slightly sloped. Nice views and a lot less traffic noise than many KOA type cgs. Bathrooms were clean, but tired. They got pretty busy at peak times and had me stepping thru standing water. Tent sites are packed pretty close together. Ours was about 35 feet from two other sites. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable of local area. The Johnsons Cafe on site serves a wonderful family-style dinner with great portions and good recipes. We tried the fried chicken an biscuits dinner. It fed two adults and two young kids on just two orders. Laundry on site is helpful after backpacking in GNP
