It is a super nice park, to walk or ride a bike. The different models of houses that were in the past are built with a replica of a church, a lake with turtles and ducks. a fountain. Nice, clean and quiet place.

Beautiful park with majestic trees and historic buildings relating the history of Houston since it's founding in the early 1800s. The museum gallery has rotating exhibitions that are most informative!

It was an honor to take a tour with Reverend Jack Yates' great granddaughter Martha Whiting-Goddard. What an exciting day to see The Heritage Society being recognized by UNESCO for its historic houses that tell the stories of emancipation and life in Houston's 4th Ward thereafter. It was good to see all the City leadership recognize diversity and support Houston's history.

You can have dogs on the grounds but they need to be on leash.

Hi Edward, most of our homes are from the 1800s. 1823 Old Place, 1847 Kellum-Noble House, 1850 Nichols-Rice-Cherry House, 1868 San Felipe Cottage, 1870 Yates House, Fourth Ward Cottage, 1891 St. John Church, 1893 Baker Family Playhouse, and 1905 Staiti House.
Contact the Heritage Society and inquire with them
Not normally if you have a small group but it’s always good to check to make sure there isn’t a group tour scheduled for when you want to come.
Our museum gallery is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. We give guided tours of the historic buildings at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. We also have cell phone tours. There are signs in front of the buildings with a number you can call and hear the history of the building.
