Unfortunately, I’m feeling the need to leave a review so that others do not make the same mistake we did. We were so excited to revisit this resort six years after our honeymoon. We understood that management changed. However decided to try. Very disappointed. We stayed at a Poplar Condo again. Upon arrival, the room looked like it hadn’t been used in months. The bathroom needed to be cleaned, which I did. We also had three people in our party and only had enough towels for 2 people for 2 days (we stayed 3). I used a hand towel the whole time we were there. I tried to connect with the cleaning staff but they were “not around”. We didn’t have enough soap in our bath either, my husband brought some from home thankfully. The beds were very uncomfortable, the whole site was noisy as there was construction going on for repairs, and the repairs we were never told about… like the iconic bridge and pathways. The beach had drastically changed as well. I’ll stop here although there’s more. Very disappointed and we made an agreement to not reserve here any longer. We feel like we could get better value and north shore ambiance elsewhere. I miss the old resort and hard to believe the change after just 6 years. Apologies, but all true.

Honestly, I feel sad writing this because I know people work hard at Lutsen resort but it such a disappointing time. We tried to make it what we could do there was a bit of good to it. As far as our stay goes, it had said on our receipt upon check in that there would be a complimentary bottle of champagne in our room and there was not, the bathroom was dirty, the room is SO dark. The lighting is not cozy, inviting or helpful in the slightest - the over head lighting is terrible. And the lamps were weird and different color light bulbs. We felt like the basic things we would need or just be intuitive for a resort to offer was not there or easily accessible - like drinking water. It just feels like the heart and coziness that it used to have is gone. It’s actually so sad. The restaurant seemed like the priority was all wine and it just felt weird. I hope they make improvements because this place is so special to us and I know many other people in Minnesota and beyond.

Not the place to go if you’re disabled. We booked our reservation here for two nights for a family wedding. The only somewhat accessible room was at Poplar Condos ($299/night king, +$70 resort fee/night + lodging and sales tax) where the tub/shower was dangerously inaccessible. The rest of the property was a disabled person's nightmare: no elevators anywhere, steps only to enter the main lobby, a few hidden ramps (not on property map), broken pavement with steep slopes, inaccessible restrooms, and management that shrugged their shoulders at the idea that any of this was a problem (or illegal per ADA). I’m wondering what my $70 resort fee actually paid for, since I couldn’t access most of the resort. I attended a wedding, paid for separately. My husband had to drive me from place to place on the property, and back and for to the Poplar Condos, since the bridges connecting to the main property are impassable. Even worse, when I posted a similar review on TripAdvisor, the manager began harassing me in email about my review. Edited to add: The manager had my email from my original reservation and subsequent communication requesting my reservation confirmation, which wasn’t sent at the time of my initial reservation. I used my own name in both reviews. Furthermore, I'm not complaining about scratchy towels here. I’m informing the disabled community about the accessibility of Lutsen Resort. I wouldn’t have stayed here at all if it wasn’t for a family wedding, and a lack of other options in the area because of a large event on the same day. Yes, a facility can legally be grandfathered with regard to ADA accommodations if built prior to 1990, and no renovations since that time. However, it’s an FU to the disabled community to have no access, like Lutsen Resort.

We skied April 16 & 17, 2022 for Easter weekend. The conditions were really nice for being so late in the season. I’d like to try it again mid season when there’s more open. They do have a bag lunch area which is nice but it’s on the third level building above gift shop, next to the gondola. Cafeteria on the second level. Loved the high speed lift there, they need another one there, rumor has it that’s coming. Staff is friendly. We had lunch on top the mountain at the lodge there. We just had chili and it was alright. Personally I think they need some healthier options, that is why most time I bring my own lunch. Parking and ticket office is convenient.

Hi Carl. I believe Mountain Meltdown is usually the second weekend in April however I'm not completely sure as that is a Lutsen Mountains hosted event. Lutsen Mountains is a separate entity from Lutsen Resort and you can contact them at (218) 663-7281.

What size are the stove and refrigerator? What cooking pots and pans are available?

The Sea Villas vary from half refrigerators to full size, most are medium size apartment type refrigerators. The stove and range in the Sea Villas are normal 30" ranges like you would find in a single family home. The Log Cabins are all full sizes appliances as are the Cliff Dweller Townhomes. Not sure about the lodge, I think that most rooms there are just hotel style rooms with no cooking facilities.
