Truck rent, misc weekly fees, fuel, you have to pay for any blowout tires, cat scale tickets, they also charge you a fee if you get a violation like speeding or fail an inspection, a .10 per mile maintenance fee, and they take 18% of the gross right off the top, and tolls. You have to be mindful of a lot more than as a company driver. You have to look for the cheapest fuel, keep an eye on your tires to warn them before they blowout so they will replace for free. You also need to plan routes to avoid tolls. Most importantly though you need to learn quickly what loads you should accept or deny. If you take a load for $1.40 per mile, dont expect to be making money. And even if a load pays closer to $2.00 per mile, there could be a lot of tolls, going into a bad area etc

If you take off a week or more ...you still have a payment . I only took 2 days at a time and took the truck home
