This is the most organized place to recycle. I just love it and the volunteers are very nice and helpful.

Sorted out the recycling that I brought in

This was my second time coming to pro kansas recycling. It was very organized and the volunteers were helpful.

Everything needs to be separated. But that can be done at the facility. There are always volunteers who can help you do that.
No, items are not sold or purchased. It is voluntary recycling.
No, bedding. Unfortunately, since the bed bug epidemic. I don't think anyone takes mattresses. I finally had to send mine to the dump. It was so sad. Other than try to sell them for cheap price. (Other option)
This place does in fact take appliances, they only "run off" volunteers that are not productive or have been reported by people who come in. They do not tolerate any type of disrespect toward outside people, and they expect all volunteers to stay busy while they are there. The man who runs the place is very active all day, and honestly does not need help but he allows people to volunteer anyways. Appliances are recycled around the back of the building, the side which has the library. There is a very large metal dumpster there. You can set the appliances on the side, but it is preferred to be inside the dumpster if it is possible for you to do
Yes
People bring in misc household items, like a water pitcher, that they leave on a table at the back of the building, near the library.
Yes they do!
They take batteries
They don't offer pickup unfortunately. As a city we still have to pay extra for our trash company to handle recycling. Which is kind of disappointing.
Brianna E is correct. Pro Kansas is for household recyclables like plastic bottles, sofa & tin cans, etc. The volunteers are very helpful getting newcomers acquainted with what goes where.
Please let me know because I plan on doing community service today
Yes they do I worked there for almost a year the only things they don't take is wood, styrofoam and plastic bags with fiberglass mesh in it if it stretches they take it no and most of recyclables have 2 numbers inside a triangle so maybe sure you look carefully and they have a free table you can donate things they don't recycle and there is a steel container in back to put bigger stuff.
Hmm. Im not sure about that. I dont think they do. But the Sedwick county has a building that you can take Hazmat Materials and containers to. Not too far from that locatiin just west of Seneca and South of Harry.
I don't know if you are referring to the place or plastic in general. Pro Kansas recycling does accept all types of plastics as long as they have grades 1,2,5 engraved/written on them. Plastic, in general, can only be recycled once, but once the plastic is recycled, it will never be used for food. Also, the best practice is to reduce plastic usage and opt for paper/glass/metal containers which are indefinitely recyclable and has less impact compared to plastic
No, they do not. All you can do with Styrofoam is break it up & use it for packing materiel... That or break it up small enough to throw in the trash. Of course if you have a drum of old & unusable gas, you can always put the Styrofoam in it & watch it melt into nothing.
They do not pay out for aluminum cans. It is a collection site for all types of recyclables. They operate with only volunteers. There are other places in town that pay for cans like Kansas Can.
Sorry, I'm not sure.
Unfortunately no, there are no after hours drop off options.
All their recycling drip off is free. You must follow the guidelines for those recyclables. They have a PDF on their website and I believe it is available on their Facebook page also.
No. The inside just needs to be clean.
No. Take pc to electronic recyclers at santa fe and lincoln- - southeast corner. I dont think anyone takes TVs
They told me containers should be rinsed once. They don't expect perfection.
It's not required but it does help save time.
Yes they do and there is no cost. They have free books and other items available if you pull to the south parking lot and come back in.
Yes, they have an area for books
Take shredded paper to the Kansas Humane Society on North Hillside. They use it for bedding. Best if the paper is bagged and the top is sealed or tied off.
