Told a staff member there at the office that I was going back to work back in 2007, and they still sent me benefit payments and now are trying to get me to pay back the “ overpayments”- which now totals over &20,000.

TL;DR Don’t bother calling, just go in-person! I tried calling and setting up an appointment with the SSA but got nowhere. Instead, I just went down to this location at noon on a Friday. According to the security guard they’re *only* accepting walk-ins these days, despite what the signage says. They dealt with my name change paperwork cleanly and effectively, and I didn’t wait more than 15 minutes. I call that a success.

My experience with this branch began on a Friday @ 2:45 pm and the office was cl9sed for the day. A few more individuals also were confused and we knocked on door, we could see employees and finally a security guard said they closed because of a busy day. Then slammed the door on us.

The worst experience ever! After waiting weeks to get a call back

The appointments are for new applicants only, nothing else
How do I make an appointment?
Because that is not what Social Security does, they have no help
Since their office is not accepting in-person visits, they need to make their fax number accessible for the public. US Postal Service is running with difficulties. Phone lines are swamped. What is the fax number?
The only reason you sit and wait is for the Representative to date stamp your forms. Then ask for copies. Otherwise you can just drop it off....Drop Box it.
Yes you can do walk in on Monday even if you have appointments on February.
I actually just left there, I didn't need An appointment, but I also went for a birth certificate.
This location does not do appts, just walk-ins. We went on Thurs around 1pm and there was no wait. Was in and out pretty quickly.
I would call them to request it.thats what I had to do.
No walk ins right now
They've been closed. With number posted on the door.
Yes. However the office is not currently open due to covid. At least it wasn't 2 weeks ago. They do answer the phone and answer questions though. You can print the form for a replacement card from their site and mail it to this office with any original documents (Not copies). It took about 2 weeks to get a replacement card for my son.
No
The individual/company that paid you out is required to have sent out 1099s by the 31st
Your best bet for same day appointments is to call as early as possible in the morning or the day before. Your next option is to go draw a number and wait in line. Which, surprisingly isn't as long of a wait as what you would expect
You can but usually the appts are weeks if not months away.
Yes
I did that already, I waited 2 1/2 hours and all she did was give me an appointment.
Yes you have to call them and book an appointment
Yes, you can
Yes!!
You can go online or go into the office
Call the 1800 number and they can schedule one for you appointments are 6-8 weeks out
They will direct you to the website but appointments are 6-8 weeks out so if you want to it in person make your appointment now
Typically if your just wanting a replacement card its easier to just go in and take a number, as it's usually the shorter and quickest of the lines. Otherwise yes, I recommend setting an appointment ahead of time. It's typically pretty busy and if it's not something that's simply a matter of in and out with a signature the appointment is probably the best way to go about it.
If you google the soc. Sec. Building in creve coeur and select the option to take you to the social security website.... Once on the website kind of skim over to get the layout and look for the schedule and appt link or button and the prompts will guide you step by step after that. Feel free to reach out for more information.
Just call SSA and they will do that for you
Yes, just call SSA
Yes, call SSA and they will be happy to help you
From what I've seen, there was a woman reapplying for disability after a divorce. She was denied due to income of her husband. Doesn't seem fair, but I witnessed that. I would call and make an anonymous inquiry to confirm. Use another phone, if you're concerned it may affect you in any way and simply say you have a general question for both your questions. There are community centers that offer tax preparation for circuit breakers. Contact the Ferguson community center. Or your local area center I wish you well Krystle
It probably would be better to make one to avoid all the wait. But you dont have to make an appointment. You can as well go in and get a number, wait for your turn then go ask what you want or do what took you there
You can set up a "My Social Security" account and change your direct deposit there. Much easier than calling, and change goes into effect quickly. Just go on ssa.gov and follow directions to set up account. Lots of things you can do there instead of going in person.
Via the 1-800 number
They dont take 9 am appointments
Supposed to be mailed within 2 weeks.
Yes you can
The W4 is given to HR or payroll at your place of employment. The SSI office or IRS is not a payrolling service for the country. Then if you see no changes in witholdings on your check follow up on why there are no changes. You should see a smaller check with more taken out.
