Park Place is wonderful and my Mom is loving it. Best move in the world for her. Many thanks to Beatrice for all her help!

My mother-in-law cannot get what her caregiver orders for her meals. Mary refuses to provide the meals that are requested. My mother-in-law is diabetic and her breakfast this morning included a sugar-loaded Honey Bun and a waffle with heavy syrup?? Milk has been requested on almost every meal by her caregiver, but very rarely does my mother-in-law actually get it. She prefers fried eggs and hash browns with her breakfast, but she gets scrambled eggs instead, and the food is wasted because it isn't eaten. It seems that Mary decides what's prepared for the meal, inspite of what the caregiver orders! Her caregiver has had to buy food from outside in order to provide my mother-in-law the food she needs, and will actually eat! This situation is abominable and something needs to change post-haste! Also, there's been some theft going on. Resident's jewelry is being stolen and it's been reported to Knoxville PD. An investigation was conducted, the outcome of which I'm not privy to. However, the executive director, Mariam, and "Julie" (not sure of her position or title) were implicated in the theft. I'll post more later, but this is ridiculous! My reply to Kimberly's response... Thank you so much, for your response, and concern, regarding this matter. Your meal ordering process, seems to have said issues, that were/are "tailored",to my mother-in-law,because occurrences of these issues,were/are consistently repetitive, resulting in her, simply*not* getting what she wants to eat, through her freedom of choice, culminating in her not eating,*at all*,or perhaps eating, foods randomly selected by facility employees up to,but not limited to the executive director Miriam Kloster as well as other office personnel,(NOT selected by her personal caregiver)that include items, laden with sugar, that can have detrimental effects,on a diabetic person's health, which is a very disturbing thought,as well as grossly negligent! Suffice it to say,the current meal ordering process,is compromised,at best. However,I do not perceive,my mother-in-law,to be the only resident, affected,by this ongoing worry.--no prior permissions were/are granted on meal altering to ANYONE within facility staff-- Now,to address the subject matter of larceny, within your facility, will certainly require, its own space,to be even remotely discussed.

I visited Park Place of West Knoxville with my Mother. We were very impressed with the property, personnel and the meal we were treated to. Beatrice showed us around the property. It was a very thorough tour and she answered all of our questions. She took her time with us and never made my Mother feel rushed. We met some of the residents there and they welcomed my Mother as warmly as if she were an old friend. We were also treated to an excellent dinner and the Chef even stopped by to check on us. My Mother ultimately selected another facility due to her progressing need for an Assisted Living option. Otherwise, she would have selected Park Place of West Knoxville. We definitely recommend Park Place of West Knoxville for Senior Living.

Our visit to Park Place was delightful -- very personal, yet professional. The staff paid attention to our specific interest and needs; the buildings and grounds were beautiful; the residents were friendly and welcoming; and we left with a positive outlook on the possibility of senior living for our family member.

We know this is a big change! It is a concern we often hear from seniors and their families. The good news is that there will be staff and fellow residents around who will be happy to help you learn your way around the community. Before long you will find yourself feeling right at home! We hope this information helps you or the senior you love feel more positive about the changes ahead. If you have a question we didn’t answer or if you would like to schedule an in-person visit, please call the Five Star Senior Living nearest you. Our staff will be happy to arrange a time that is convenient for you to join us for lunch and a personal tour!
Good question! Embarking on a new chapter in life doesn’t mean old friends have to be left behind. Assisted living communities offer a wide range of programs and events residents can invite guests to participate in. And they also offer transportation services so your dad can attend events in and around town with his old buddies. Fortunately, there are other ways your father can stay in touch. Social media channels like Facebook or a video chat service such as Skype are two easy avenues for staying connected.
This sometimes happen when it actually comes time to make the move. Your mom is probably anxious and a little uncertain. A late life transition like this isn’t easy to make. What might help is to get her involved in some of the events and activities at the new community now, instead of waiting until she actually moves in. Talk with the staff to see about helping her find a buddy with similar interests and hobbies that she can bond with during her visits. Becoming more familiar with the community and with a few fellow residents can help make the move feel a little less intimidating.
We hear this concern from seniors often. Sorting through and packing up a lifetime of memories and belongings can be overwhelming. One resource we like to share with families is a group of professionals called Senior Move Managers. They are experts at handling all of the details of a later life move. You can find one near your home by visiting the National Association of Senior Move Managers or Certified Relocation & Transition Specialist.
