Today I had appointment to donate platelets @One Blood on Glades Rd Boca Raton Florida. I came from Iowa, visiting. I was greeted with a smile . I really appreciate the staff that helped me, she was very kind . Today 10/10/2022

I decided to donate blood yesterday after many years of not donating as I heard there was a nationwide shortage. My experience was poor, at best. The two female staff members were very cold. I communicated to both separately that I don’t like needles and there was zero response. As one staff member was working my arm up there was no communication about what she was doing or what the procedure would be. After the needle was placed in my arm I asked if the chair could recline backwards and I was given an abrupt “no”. Five minutes later I asked again and she moved it for me, explaining the entire position of the chair would move if I wanted to recline. It was baffling to me that she couldn’t explain this the first time I had asked. In addition, before sitting down to donate I had put my purse on the ground and was told in a very abrupt tone not to put my bag there and that it would have to go on my lap. I found this awkward and uncomfortable while donating especially considering there were several empty seats all around. On the positive side, this same staff member did regularly check on me while I was donating to ask if I was ok. Unfortunately, due to this negative experience, I will not be returning to OneBlood to donate blood ever again.

The Spanish lady was not very friendly. The white American lady was nice and explained the process.
