Almost everyone says if you get De Quervain's tenosynovitis, the doctor will give you a cortisone injection first. If it doesn't help. They will choose surgery to make more space for the swollen tendon. However, based on my experience, acupuncture is the best conservative treatment without any harm to our body. Below is my case: I couldn't move my thumb any closer to palm for more than one month, so I went to Rush for a proper treatment. Dr Cohen followed the procedure to get one Cortisone Injection and he said I can use my hand in one week. However it turned out to be worse after 7 days. This makes me feel that cortisone injection is useless to me. and I don't want to get a surgery cause surgery CAN NOT 100% cure my wrist. And I don't trust this because of the ONE WEEK PROMISE. Then I find a Chinese doctor to cure my wrist with acupuncture. Acupuncture tremendously improved my condition. I can see that my thumb is getting better every day. I would say acupuncture is one of the conservative treatment if you don't want to get cortisone injection or surgery.
