The Southern Utah Veterans Home in Ivins, Utah has served our family well. During my husband’s long-term memory care they were always patient, caring, and helpful They were appreciative of his military service and treated him with great respect. I was kept informed at all times about his health, safety, and welfare. I had regular consultations with team members, which was especially important during COVID when we could not always visit in-person. I also appreciated that I was often asked about my own well-being. When his time came to a close, they were kind to him and to our family. They graciously honored our final requests. I am so grateful for the privilege of being served by the Southern Utah Veterans Home.

I am at the Meadows in St. George rated at 70% by the VA. I was at the Ivins Facility for a short time. I am from Mesquite, am diagnosed with dementia, but there was no testing. I had an MRI on 12/30 showing slight dementia. Cost per month there?

I can't tell you exactly, because each client's housing is based on their abilities. This means that you pay more if you can walk, dress, feed, and make decisions for yourself. If you get in as a housed resident and you need total care, there is a different cost than if you can still care for yourself. You should get your name on the waiting list - it's pretty long, however they do take extreme cases and memory patients over others. My dad got in last year because of his dementia diagnosis. I hope I'm helping. Feel free to call out there and you can ask for the financial manager for more help. Best wishes - the memory unit is amazing at the VA Home! The staff is so kind!

My father is in need of assisted living but my mother can still be on her own. They do not want to be separated. Does this facility have room or accommodations for both?

Does the the Southern Utah Veterans Home use Volunteers?

Sally Krouth | Oct 17, 2018
Dr. Steve Watts | Oct 17, 2018

Yes. Much of the staff are employees but volunteers address used and needed

What does the room look like

Gregory Anderson | Oct 17, 2018
Dr. Steve Watts | Oct 17, 2018

Each room has it's own private bathroom, tv, wardrobe, bed, and chairs. Each has a window that looks outside. The flooring is tile, and while it is not the Marriott, it is liveable.

Can I send my father a Christmas card in the Veteran's home that he would receive & possibly have read to him? Thanks

They would certainly deliver it to him; when my father was there they brought his mail to him. If he's not well enough to open and read his own mail, the staff will do it for him. In the time my father was there, the staff were consistently excellent with him.
