We’ve been Oak St Advisor clients since 2018. Bryan has guided us through paying off massive student debt, college savings for children, retirement strategy, home purchase, and answering innumerable other financial questions we’ve had over three years. We feel the cost of financial planning with Oak St has already paid for itself many times over, and will only continue to get more valuable with time. Our financial picture has only improved. Bryan is great at understanding your financial needs and assessing your risk tolerance in order to build an effective financial plan. We’ve also found Oak St Advisors to be extremely flexible in how involved you’d like them to be with managing your finances. Oak St Advisors is a fee-only, fiduciary financial planner. You don’t have to worry about whether they're recommending an insurance product or investment strategy just to help their bottom line. They are required by law to put your interests first. Having worked with planners that do not have a fiduciary duty, I can assure you that there is a big difference. I found Oak St Advisors through the NAPFA website. If you are in the market for a financial planner, you should definitely prioritize planners that are fee-only and fiduciary. You will get “cheaper” financial plans from your investment firm, insurance provider, or other financial institution, but those planners are nearly always incentivized to sell you various financial or insurance products.

Joe Taylor has been my advisor for 20+ years. He has guided me with financial and IRA decisions. He has kept me from panicking through crashes and making detrimental decisions. I trust Joe and now his son Brian to make the best decisions for me and my money to allow me to live comfortably, travel, and enjoy retirement. I definitely recommend Oak Street Advisors!

A fee-only financial advisor's fee varies from firm to firm and also varies with the complexity of the client's situation and the amount of assets that the client needs help with. You could pay an hourly fee for financial planning (Oak Street Advisors charges $150 per hour for financial planning work) or a flat fee for the financial planning project. Sometimes the financial planning work is included in an asset management fee for clients who need both financial planning and investment advisory services. Oak Street Advisors aum fees are disclosed on page 12 of our form ADV Part 2 which can be viewed at the bottom of our home page.
A fee only financial advisor is paid directly by the client for financial advise. Fee-only means the advisor receives no commissions or other payments from third parties that could cloud their judgement or create a conflict of interest between the advisor and the client.
The rules for rollovers are complex. It is not a subject the can be covered succinctly. Much depends on what your goals are. Sometimes a rollover makes sense to consolidate old 401k or 403b accounts, at other times it makes more sense to avoid a rollover or to roll an old rollover IRA back into a 401k. We encourage you to visit our blog. We have written several posts about how rollovers work and when you might want to avoid a rollover. Of course you can always reach out to us by email or telephone to learn more about your specific circumstances.
