I have been looking for a dog for some time now, with no luck at all. I've given out all the information that FBI would like to have in order to get a dog and that didn't help. Luckily a friend told me about APA and I went there and found the cutest little dog and it took her home. Just like that. I think all pet adoptions should go this easy. And the staff was absolutely wonderful.

Go on the site and click adopt scroll down and click adoptable dogs then it will take you to a separate link fill out the info and you're done
I think they offer spaying/neutering services. Best to call the APA to verify.
I'm not quite sure on the price I have gotten animals from other shelters before and it was doing a promotion and you work they were giving you a deal at $100 for the dog or puppy so I think the best thing for you to do is either call I'll go on the internet to find out the price good luck
Older dogs are less money, around $100. I think $200 is probably the highest, although I'm not sure if it's more if they have done spay/neuter. They do same-day adoptions, but they highly recommend a meet and greet if you have other animals.
It means animals are paid for by donation and they asked for typically a minimum amount to cover the basics but if you would like to donate more to help them pay for all of the medical care they have given your pet, then you can pay more. So basically there's a suggested donation amount, but you pay what you feel it's worth.
You should call them or go up there. They dont hold animals. I learned the hard way.
I would recommend calling them and asking if they are currently hiring. And if so, ask them what is the best way to apply.
Absolutely! Towels of all sizes are very helpful. Thank you!
Although they have a clinic on site, I would call to check and see what services they offer for animals that are not under the shelters care.
This is not a question to crowd source to Google. You should call them directly.
I would just call to see if they are accepting intakes. There's an option to ask. There should be a form on their website for scheduling an intake to get the process started.
first 5 days after initial pet adoption they will see your pet if there is a problem at no charge. Thereafter therei s a fee to see the Vet.
Yes please call and make an appointment
I don't think they do that. But they can tell you who does
What do you mean? Surrender a pet to the APA? Yes 😢
You can also just walk in to the clinic. Just be aware, they sometimes are very busy and can run out of appointments. The online system actually just get you in line so you don't have to wait at the clinic. You're not actually scheduling an appointment.
There are definitely volunteer opportunities you could take advantage of. I'm sure the animals would appreciate your help as much as the employees. Plus, you'd get to sneak in a cuddle here and there! I'd check out their website or call for volunteer information. Hope this helps! :)
By appointment only. They are full so they need to have room. You can call them. It's a good place
We do not pick up dogs in the community, however, you are welcome to bring the dog to us tomorrow morning when we open at 10am. We first recommend that you ask around your neighborhood to see if the dog belongs to someone in your neighborhood.
So sorry to hear that Sherri!! I hope you get well ASAP!! I don't believe the APA houses pets. However, you could try Paws STL or St. Louis Muttropolitan 👍
I have only adopted and used their basic veterinary services. Not sure.
Yes
Yes, I am sure they do!
We do not take pillows, but appreciate you thinking of us. Unfortunately, the dogs tend to think they are chew toys and stuffing ends up everywhere.
I'm not sure. You have to go to the website to preview then call and make an appointment for visitations. We were told that they get new additions daily. However, our furry friends get adopted daily as well, on a first come, first serve basis. I hope this was helpful.
I would contact them directly with this suggestion/request.
I've got two cats from here; both times they asked me for a donation of $40. The donations help fund the shelter, which is an excellent place, so both times I gave them more than they asked me for.
They do if they have room, call & ask first if there's room 4 them.
I would call them.
According to their website, they do euthanize in some cases. However I've adopted two cats from there and found the cats to be well socialized and their clinic services, while not 100% full service due to resources, to be very good. The facility is very pet friendly and the staff truly cares about the animals
Talk to Tammy
I think so.
They also have fosters that help out when space is scarce.
The bigger dogs are they house broke.
No they do not breed any animals here. They are an animal rescue group.
We do not hold, but that doesn't mean the sweet feline you are interested in will not be here. Who are you interested in? Are you looking for particular age, color, etc.?
Also call over the phone and details on what available breeds there are

Hi Angela, the APA has an Outreach program that may fit that need. If you call the shelter, they can tell you more about the program and see if it's something that may be able to help.
2 week wellness coverage
Yes, there is a surrender fee of $20 for one pet. If it is a litter of puppies or kittens, the surrender fee is $50. This fee helps offset the costs the APA incurs for vaccinations, spaying/neutering, microchipping and general care.
Are you planning on buying or adopting a pet? If so then you should consider a puppy so that she herself can see how quickly they grow. But, if not then she should not pet any animal that she or you are not familiar with.
Check the website. They update several times per day. https://apamo.org/adopt/
Just go back tomorrow, the APA will be able to assist you with your question and whatever process you will have to do.
They have a website to look at
All cats are 'pick your price' with a suggested minimum of $50 to help with the costs of spaying/neutering, vaccinations and microchip, which are all taken care of prior to adoption (value of $150). You'll also get a starter bag of cat food and a collar.
There is a clinic attached to the APA. You can bring your dogs and cats even if they were NOT adopted at the APA. The clinic prices are less than traditional veterinary offices however they do not have emergency hours and pet visits are on a first come first served basis.
Unfortunatelyfor, this isn't the right forum, you need to contact them directly or go directly to their website
Better than no kill in my opinion. They are humane and only put down animals thay will never be adopted due to severe health or behavioral issues. They never kill for space. They're very humane and caring and go out of their way to help every animal get adopted, even finding barns for feral cats. They're efficient and organized.
The humane society does free spay/neuter once a month
Sure they will take the dog back for a $20. Fee
Unfortunately, we do not. We know some organizations do this, however, due to the volume of pets we help over the course of the year (more than 3,500), it is not possible for us to adequately clean chairs due to the fabric. We do provide each pet with a bed, blanket and toys while they are here, and are always in need of donations related to this. Fortunately, our average length of stay for most pets is 8 days or less, so it doesn't take long for them to be adopted.
You should call and ask. They don't read these questions - this is a google maps feature not an apa forum
At the moment they have at least 50.
As far as I know they do not disqualify you based on other dog breeds in the home. I believe they do ask for you to bring your dog in for a meet and greet to make sure they get along before taking the new dog home, but that is with any breed.
I believe they are 15.
No. They do kill if an animal is not adoptable. That would be either if the animal is 1) terminally ill or 2) has behavioral issues. They are very humane and caring and always try to keep pets healthy and well. They haven't had to kill for space in years.
It only euthanizes animals with health or behavior. It truly tries not to end an animal l life.
Anyone can go look with adult. I think 16 by yourself
Talk to the dog's owner and let them know your concerns. Tell them you'll be reporting your concerns to authorities. German Shepherds can handle the cold if they have shelter but being tied up continuously is neglect and abuse.
It's best if you call them directly.
Yes its called the Safe Care program
I talked to APA on 12/7/17. Prices for dogs: 6 mos and under $250. 6 mos to 5 years $200. Over 5 years $100.
It would be much easier to get an exact answer by calling them and asking, however I do know the adoption process is very easy.
The APA has lots of dogs and they spay/neuter, do all the shots and give you a month of free vet visits and it's all included in the adoption fee
Yes. Bring it on a leash. Good Luck.
