The bridge is in great condition, and while it used to be a toll bridge, it isn't a toll bridge nowadays.

I traveled this bridge in the l mid and ate 70's. Took this to and from work for years. Trains were on the bridge with you. It was terrible. Potholes everywhere. Back then it cost $0.50 each way. You paid cash. The money went to the town if Venice. There was no charge on the Missouri side. I found out later the people collecting the money were pocketing some of it. I finally moved out of Illinois. And I'll never move back!!
