I called Alterations By Joan on Monday for a Michael Costello dress that I needed hemmed and dropped it off on Tuesday. I was so happy when I arrived because she was so friendly and professional. When she was marking and cutting the dress, she was extremely efficient and I was able to get the process done while I was on my lunch break! She was so accommodating to my situation and I picked up the dress Saturday morning! My event was Saturday night and I got so many compliments on the fit of the dress and the extra work she did at the bottom for me. I’m so happy that I found her as my husband and I have a busy lifestyle and will be needing her expertise often.

My wife and I used Joan to lengthen a coats sleeves and add 2 buttons. We went in there because of all the good reviews, and when we called ahead, she was very nice over the phone. As soon as we arrived and she saw us, everything changed. She was rude and combative to my wife and I during the fitting, complained about us needing it within a month, and charged us $135. According to Google, it should have cost a max of $60. She questioned us inappropriately about our religion and after finding out that we weren't the same religion as her, became much more discriminatory. She got the length right, but the craftsmanship is incredibly poor. I learned to sew just a bit as a child and I could have done better than this. Instead of replacing the buttons, she took random buttons (cheap) she had on hand and informed us that we were going to have to try to find some new buttons. I don't know why she doesn't seem to like white people or did such shoddy work, but we won't be returning. Based on the other reviews, this doesn't seem normal, but we were very surprised at how negative this experience was. Edit to address her comments: we were thinking about getting another coat done and she charged an extra $30 on his coat to compensate her trouble, so don't believe a word of her nonsense on that.

I bought a winter coat for a trip up north. It was too big. I took it to Joan. She did this as a rush. This was my first time going to her. She hemmed my sleeves and made the length shorter. Joan did an excellent job!! The job was professional and she restored my coat to perfection!! This coat was lined also. I would highly recommend Joan. I will be using her for all my alterations from this day forward!!

Joan is absolutely wonderful! She did such an excellent job on a bridesmaids dress I needed over the summer so went back for now another bridesmaids dress again. She is timely, professional, kind and does outstanding work. My dress was perfect and I know this one will be too. We ended up talking after my appointment and got to know such an incredible person. I definitely recommend her for any alterations work! Thank you Joan, you’re the best!
