The attendants were very helpful, as my family had a delay on getting to the train and arrived slightly past check luggage time we were politely given a cart to load and pushed through to an attendant that had the exact number of tags for bags to be checked. Thanks for the love Union.

Amtrak travel offered so much more room than plane or bus travel. The seats recline. There are plugins for your phone/Kindle. If you smoke, there was a stop in Jackson (MS), and Memphis (TN), where you can get off and stretch your legs and have a smoke if you choose. The food selection was microwaveable, and subpar, but nice to have some drink and food selections. The dining car, was nice and open, where you could see all around. Taking the train you get to see areas and parts that you don’t get on road-to-road travel. I checked the train ride off my bucket list, and I say, “take the experience.”

No free parking. 7 dollars for the first ten hours, then ten dollars over that, then ten dollars per day.
Not sure about luggage but trolley stops right at the station. Quick trip to French Quarter and everyone is friendly, helpful.
Yes and is pretty clean. Plus police presence and security out side. I was there 5:45 am til 7:00 am few days ago
There should be within a mile radius
If it were in the daylight hours it would be okay, but at that time in any major city I would advise you take a taxi or Uber.
Thanks Peeps, y'all were a great help!
As long as you can show security your ticket waiting overnight shouldn't be a problem 👍🏾
It stays open all night

Pick up locations for the AirportExpress (202) Bus in New Orleans canbe found at Elk Place at Cleveland and the Union Passenger Terminal Bus Bay 2 with transport to the Departures Level at the Airport Terminal and select trips to the new terminalconstruction site.
No Idea where Gorger is located.
About 15 hours driving.
No food trucks at Union Passenger Terminal but week days they have food trucks two blocks away.
Wyndham Garden Baronne Plaza New Orleans. $ 67
I always call Amtrak and speak to an agent.
Passenger Terminal: Union Station If you travel to New Orleans through Amtrak and have a valid ticket. The Union Passenger Terminal offers luggage storage for $ 10 per day. Don't have a valid Amtrak ticket? Amtrak now allows you to store items for $ 20 per item for 24 hours
Yes Train 59 from Chicago to New Orleans
Look at rome2rio.com website .. should have your info
Yes but it is a little more expensive that way.
I would have to believe it is safe, that parking facility is also the Post Office main branch parking. Only an observation.
Yes you can.
Will take one change of train, either at Washington, DC or New York City. Should be daily service.
Roy is correct I-10 will bring you to both locarions.
From what I can see only Amtrak services Laurel Ms. The one way fare is $36, and the only train leaves at 7am and arrives just after ten am.
The only train that will allow you to make a round-trip in one day is the Crescent. The quickest turn around time would be to Meridian, Ms. It's about a four hour trip, and the turnaround time is about three hours. You would leave around 7am and be back for 720pm. Only other option would be for you to take the train up and maybe take the Greyhound bus back.
Yes. There are a number of very good ones. The Le Pavilion is very close. It was renocated in a french motif. Most needed services are close by. Rates are competitive for the area. My wife and I stayed there last year and highly recommend it. Check websites for special rates.
There is Outlet shopping 12 blovks away and the Royal and Charters in the French Quarter is only 10 blocks
Yes. It's ten dollars per day, part in advance at a meter.
uber assist
I'm not sure of the terminal's hours, although the Greyhound portion may be open longer due to later arrivals and departures.
Yes. If you buy a sleeper room, all meals are included at ni additional costs. If you ride coach, meals must be purchased.
Not at night, in the day time you should be fine.
I'll be fine.
Yes, at end of Union Passenger Terminal, also bus lines, taxis in front.
Yes, the Crescent and it takes about nine hours, very pleasant
The Hyatt Hotel is about 2 blocks also Modern Hotel is about 3 to 4 blocks.
You catch the Sunset Limited to Los Angeles but you have to catch another train from there to San Francisco.
Not at the station, but since it is located down town, everything is close, and easy to access.
Yes, pretty early. I had a trail out at 6:30am and many people already there. If you look at the schedule for first departing/arr trains, should be open and hour ahead of those trains.
