The Skater's Edge

I recently returned to skating after taking a substantial amount of time off. I went to Skater's Edge, because that is where I used to go for skates, sharpening's etc. They are the only local establishment that specializes in figure skates. I had no idea the former owners retired, and Claire had taken over. We spoke briefly, and I set up an appointment for a fitting. Being a little older, I was interested in dance. Too old to jump. Claire listened to my needs, and gave me a number of options to try. After spending a considerable amount of time with me, we had the boot and blade combination that we thought would work best for me. Once everything came in, Claire took the time to get the blades mounted for me ( she landed up moving the blade on the left skate a little more to the outside than would normally be expected ), and figuring out the hollow that would allow me to be comfortable with the edging that dance requires. I could not be happier with the results. They are literally the most comfortable skates that I have ever owned. With my basics back, I am working on patterns and loving the sport again. I would be remiss if I did not mention that Claire did the exact same thing for my wife when she purchased her new new skates. We now have a skate tech that we trust to sharpen and work on our skates. No need to take a chance going to one of the hockey stores, or rink pro shops and hoping the sharpening turns out the way you want it to. Claire's sharpening's are as consistent as I have ever had. I really can't say enough about the service Skater's Edge provides.

Claire is so kind and attentive! She is careful to schedule plenty of time for each skater, so that I can ask a million questions! She’s thoughtful even in her responses to follow up questions and seems to really care about my son’s development in the sport. We’ll only buy and maintain our skates here!

Not only are they professional, but also funny, kind, so down-to-earth, and you're bound to leave knowing something to better your skills and grace for ice skating. So happy to have met them in Buffalo; it'll be hard to find someplace quite like this!

Claire is an absolute delight to work with. I hadn't skated since I was a kid (longer ago than I care to admit) and I'm not down with the big box store experience. It did take a little while to get an appointment and a few visits back before my skates felt right. But boy was it worth it! She knows her stuff and I'm happy to say that I'm back on the ice and loving it.
