I came here late September 2020. Barebones and basic, which is exactly how I prefer my campsites. The road can be a bit noisy, but the bubbling of the creek is an absolutely lovely way to fall asleep. Guy who ran the campsite was friendly, helpful, and gave us some great ideas for things to do in the area.

Great campsite for tent camping, quiet except for Mt. Rushmore tour helicopters buzzing about during the day. Close to Rushmore and Keystone, about a 30-min drive to Rapid City or Sylvan Lake at Custer State. Most sites are somewhat open but nothing like the huge campgrounds at Custer. Sites 9, 11 and 14 are really good.

Camp Host suggested site 20, although it looks open, and it's the edge and end of the campground, at night time it is very peaceful. Very clean and well maintained. We enjoyed our visit and sleep. There is a creek near by you can hear the water trickle very late. There are pavilions that were built by the CCC there. Very historical to see inside a campground. Bathrooms are wheelchair accessible at the first one for sure. Not running water just the well. The cleanest water was the furthest one that we noticed but have been enjoying the water and have been fine.

Site was great. Camp host was a wonderful guy and very helpful. Trash truck came shortly after we arrived and cleaned up quickly. We used the trail just at the back of the grounds and enjoyed a nice hike alone. There is a nice stream in the grounds as well. Makes for a soothing drift into sleep.

Grizzly Creek is a tent-only campground. Due to tight, sharp turns, towing vehicles are prohibited in this campground. This includes vehicles towing trailers and fifth-wheels, motorhomes towing vehicles, and vehicles towing pop-up campers. Vehicles up to 28 feet maximum are allowed. No overflow parking available. The campground has picnic tables, campfire rings, vault toilets, and drinking water. Electrical hook-ups are not available. Firewood is available for a fee.
Not sure, but it's a small campground. It could be tough to get a spot if you don't have a reservation.
They have sights available for reserve and a few that are first come first serve. I'd recommend reservations during busy time.
It's not free to camp
No there's parking right next to the camping spots
Like Tarafel said, the only RV is for the camp host... it's for primitive camping. There are other campsites down the road for RVs.
You should have no problem with that, there were plenty of campsites with a large enough drive
I would say yes.
I booked my stay online. But in late August I would think you should be fine. With school already in session. When I stayed in early July they were booked everyday. So if you want to guarantee a spot I would book online and look for site 9 the creek is right behind that site.
The sites are a good size, but are quite open to each other and the road.
Just stayed there a week ago. Lovely! Several sites are so close to the creek that you are lulled to sleep by the sound of rushing water. Nice flat ground for a tent. We stayed st 9. Very private. Camp hosts friendly and helpful. 19 looked good on paper, but it has a lot of road noise. Also near the vault restroom. There is potable water, too.
No showers. Vault toilets. Very primitive campground but a very nice one.
I believe it was about $20 a night
