Our visit was lovely. The new young front desk clerk was very kind and attentive to whatever we needed. The Rhett room on the top floor was delightful and ambiance of the main space where breakfast was served was lovely. They even had affordable parking behind the building on this busy weekend.

Where to begin? My husband and I checked in for a 3 night stay , and immediately upon entering the inn we were hit with a cloud of mold and mildew smell. Jim greeted us and was very nice, and helped us to our room, The Palmetto Fan room. The inn is beautifully appointed with antiques and paintings and prints. After we had been in our room the mildew smell continued to get worse. My husband felt a burning sensation in his lungs, and I felt nauseous due to the smell. Granted, it had rained that afternoon, and it was humid outside. Upon closer inspection everything seemed dirty. The air vent in the room is rusted over. The problem is the entire inn needs an environmental company to come in and test their air. They need a commercial de-humidifier to pull the moisture out. Once that is done they need to do a serious deep clean, have all upholstery replaced,, send all curtains, comforters, coverlets and pillow shams to the cleaners, and launder the linens which felt dirty. We checked ourselves out at 9:30 at night due to the mold smell and went to stay at the Fairfield Inn down the street. Jim at the inn was very nice and refunded our down payment. I am warning everyone to not stay here for your health, if nothing else.

While our stay was a while ago, our experience was excellent. The atmosphere is as if you are taking a step back in time. I asked the attendant (I wish I remembered his name) to point me to some local experiences like a carriage ride. He took the time to book them for me! This was a great touch and made our anniversary celebration memorable. The Inn is located very central in Savannah so you can walk to most everything.
