I was granted my voucher once the pandemic hit June 2020.At the time I was granted my voucher it was hard to find somewhere to stay as it is now.I really had no choice but to attach my voucher to the apartment that I was already staying in.No yearly inspection was done on my apartment in 2021.An inspection was done in 2/2022 which my apartment failed. My apartment was reinspected in 3/2022in which it failed again. All I was told by my housing advisor is that I had to move because they weren’t going to pay my rent.Which I later found out that my landlord would’ve allowed me to stay in my apartment until my voucher expired 6/29/22.I called and spoke to my housing advisor supervisor (Mrs.Anderson) whom I told that a lot of places was telling me that they only accept Dekalb vouchers.I was granted an extension which expires on 8/7/22 which I feel isn’t fair.I was granted a voucher during the pandemic and the people in the office never wants to help.So now me and my kids are left homeless and these people don’t care. I wouldn’t recommend this housing authority to anyone.

Im Shanita The only reason I gave you 3 stars is because for the last month I had to deal with the unprofessional staff at the other office I've been trying my best to get information on the PBRA program and the application step from Ms.Valerie Smith and I know nothing and that's really frustrated I call I email and I been there twice July 14th my appointment August 2nd to turn in birth certificates while she was present and not once did she come out explain anything to me even on my appointment I did a whole application packet the front staff wasn't sure what to tell me I've spoken to the male supervisor he told me he was go check and call me back never did I call he out the office she sometimes dont be there when I call its too much and all I wanted was basic information the lack of information and communication is horrible im a human being just like you guys are its alot of people including me looking for a place to stay and that's not fair to put us in the loop and not answer questions this is my first time being in a program I don't know how this work I use to hear so many good things about you guys and so far my experience has not been good its August the 15th and I still haven't heard anything from anyone regarding my application and the details of the multifamily program if I was pulled from the housing voucher waiting list I wouldnt have ask questions about that because I'm familiar with that program this pbra program I'm not sure how it works I shouldn't have to keep calling leaving voicemails emailing getting the run around with supervisors or leaving Google reviews for someone to give me basic information if I had an appointment on July 14th with her everything should have been explained then I'm so dissapointed

Last week I was hung up on by three different workers at the housing authority, When I would tell them the reason for my call. They have me Active and a program that I'm not even in, Haven't been in the program since April 2017. So now my life is on hold can't even move forward in another program til DeKalb housing release me. Hopefully I be released this week so I can have my expection done with Marietta.

This housing authority does not deserve a star, they are rude, they have attitudes, and multiple workers tell you different things regarding your case and confuses you. They have attitudes when you ask questions. I am not from here I transferred my voucher here from Ohio and I have been getting the run around, I only been here for 3 months and this is how I get treated. They hung up on me twice and i'm always on hold for at least 45 minutes to an hour every time I call. Someone needs to do something about this business and all of their attitudes are not acceptable and I would not recommend this place to anyone for future references. Today is 07/28/2022 and I get a response when I wrote this 3 years ago and yes it was this housing authority and I don't take back what I said because it was true at the time and probably still is. Now this an perfect example of how they respond to clients or people that port in. At this point this response means nothing to me because it was 3 years ago, why didn't I get a response back then when I replied about the business. I said what I said and I will not be porting back to them again in the future I will port my voucher elsewhere because Decatur/Dekalb is not the only housing authority in Atlanta Georgia.

What is the total earned income limit for section8- 1 unit voucher in DeKalb County city of Clarkston ga
Decatur Housing Authority Applicants selected for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, PBV, and PBRA waiting lists may call the Waiting List Line, 470-486-7012, and follow the prompts to verify their position on the waiting list.
I am looking for a place to live who can I talk to about it
Atlanta Housing Authority, Decatur Housing Authority and the Housing Authority of DeKalb County - are 3 completely different housing authorities that have specific areas and requirements. Go to each one to find out what you need and what is required.
Nothing really follow up with your local police department
Take your deed, ID and your tax id number or social security card down to the office and tell them you want to register your property then you will have to attend a briefing.

My application has been on file for awhile and now I'm expecting to hear from them soon about housing. Once you have applied you should always check where's your name on the waiting list.
It is low income and based on ability to pay. However They have a waiting list with at least 12,000 people so it takes a long time to get in.
There is a number to call to find out where you stand
You reside in the same county with the voucher for a whole year after a year you can move outside of the county
we can be reached by calling 404-270-2100
Yes. Look on their website. Google Decatur housing authority port in. Have you considered DeKalb County Housing Authority?
No! You would have to wait to they waiting list is open and when it open it would be for one or two days that's if you are trying to receive housing. Far as a job yes. If you are appling for housing they will open they waiting list every now and then you have to get on they web site to be noticed when its opened.
I get those alot and it always end up a scam if you appied for public housing its going to always be a notice by mail.
You will have to do a port request it can take up to 90 days.
The application process was open I believe in 2017 for only a few days. There's never a warning when it will re-open, you just have to keep checking.
It may take a year or more. It all depends on who leaves the system and when. I believe it took 3 years before I got a call.
You have to go online, fill out the packet, take it onto the office and they'll assist you from there
Go online and fill out an application or go in person
DeKalb county and DCA and Fulton county housing authority offices, section 8 programs are good once you get in but if you're porting in or your lease is up or new to housing either of them 3 will have you loosing ya mind dealing with these agencies. They take their time they say they don't have ya paper work even if and when ya hand deliver it and show them their own stamp that proves ya sent it in 😟😣 the payments standards are unrealistic fmr rules are bias and they have all these high expectations for you to do your job and seemingly theirs too cuz they're supposed to help you NOT be homeless or become homeless🙈💔💥, yet with how long everything takes them to do you're better off going to a shelter or hotel.😠😡 I ported from 1 housing place out of state to ga,😭 the one I came from had everything done within a week, this place here took their time🙄. Claimed not to have stuff i hand delivered.😱🙊
Yes, its called porting. You may or may not get the same amount you currently received. Make sure you follow ALL protocols in the process.
You are only responsible to pay your portion of rent per the lease agreement. Even though the landlord changed you still pay your portion of rent to the new landlord until that lease agreement is up. The new landlord will not receive our portion of your rent until they complete the paperwork required to have them be a landlord in the HCV program. Anytime you are concerend about things like this we do advise you to reach out to your Housing Specialist and they can assist!
No.
How long do it take
It would be best to che k with the county in which you would like to port into. For the most part out of state income isnt factored in. Hope this helps
Check their website for information or Contact the housing authority you applied to and they should be able to provide feedback.
Call the Decatur housing office directly I had a similar issue but completely different .
