If you want to have a good escape day in nature and a peace of mind this is the place to go. You will get your exercise for the day alright. What better than walking through trails and learning about some history. I encountered armadillos on the way. This place is amazing. I recommend it.

Really wanted to be able to explore this preserve to do some birding, but within 5 min of hitting the trail was absolutely SWARMED with mosquitoes. Granted, it was August and I hadn’t put on bug spray, but, to be honest, I don’t think that would’ve helped much given how many there were. At any one point I had about 20-25 either on me or circling around me. Had to bail before it got worse ☹️ Probably better to go during the winter months when it’s cooler or wear better bug-protective clothing. Seems like a cool place if you are better prepared!
