A perfect swamp for photographers and people who just want to take a walk through nature. I went about a week ago, and I found A DEER in the middle of the swamp going underneath the trailπ€£. In that same trip, I saw about 3 different woodpeckers, a few songbirds, turtles, etc. I reccomendπ

Gorgeous and peaceful spot! My son and I greatly enjoyed walking around this beautiful sanctuary. Lovely way to spend an afternoon. Very friendly staff too β€οΈ

Visited the Saturday after Hurricane Ian and got in free, apparently due to some debris on the boardwalk, although I didn't really notice any. Normally, this is $12 per adult at most, with reduced rates for children and seniors. This is a spectacular location for anyone wanting to do some wildlife watching and enjoy a peaceful walk through beautifully preserved swampland. The walk itself isn't long, roughly 1.75 miles, and is very easy going. There are markers throughout providing really interesting information on the area and it's flora and fauna. Highly recommended!

Great 1.8 mile trail. The second half is over fire gaps, which still need to be packed down after being tilled...

It is usually held at the end of February, and from what I've heard, there is no date set yet.
If you walk the trails up front it is free. Walking the boardwalk through the swamp area cost a small fee.
Because of Covid-19. The boardwalk through the forest is only about 4 ft wide and you can't get off. There are requirements for masks & Social distancing. Not all of the people who operate the forest are able to work all week. These are difficult times. They are trying to resume normal hours, as we all are.
Yes, there are some covered benches along the way.
Yes they have some picnic tables?
Definitely not. There are an awful lot of birds and other wildlife that would not respond well to a dog.
