First the good. Their food is fantastic, absolutely great! However, this is one of the most pretentious restaurants I've been too, and I grew up in NYC. When you put a $40 deposit down for a reservation for 4, but refuse to seat us until a third person is here? Seriously? And I will never understand why some waitstaff are so inattentive when it comes to drinks. We practically had to grab someone. Isn't that where establishments can make customers happy plus a profit? Also, for a James Beard place you would think they would want you to see their presentation. Nope. The place is darker than some closets, cant really see a thing. I've also gotten takeout from them. Never again. Just cut the pizza people. Its not that precious of a work of art and it's obnoxious. When it's brought to my table its cut, but for some reason they think their craft is so special they won't cut it if you wanna take it out the door to a brewery. Heck, they don't even hand it to you. When I walked in and said I ordered a pizza, the guy just pointed to a corner and told me to go get it myself. Talked to other folks I know and they say the same thing. Yeah, great food, but they really do think the world of themselves.

The wife and I went 10/5 for dinner and were very excited since we love pizza and this is the only place in the top 50 list for best pizzas in America from NC. Unfortunately, we were underwhelmed and our conversation turned into how many other pizzas we've had in NC that we liked better. We had the red sauce pizza with Sopresseta, hot honey and basil. The pizza for starters was soggy, you had to fold it to eat it. The Sopressetta and hot honey were on there but not much of either. This is a 10" pizza for $18. The wine my wife had was $13 and about a 4-5 oz pour. The waitress was aloof and not really on her game. We did have a wonderful meatball appetizer...5 smaller size meatballs with sauce and basil for $15. Total bill without tip for the appetizer, 10" pizza, a wine and a beer was $57 before tip. We are not sure if we will be back, maybe it was an just off night.

Had this years ago with my wife and couldn't believe how good it was. Then we went back again, and it was just as good. Unreal. Looks like they finally are getting awarded appropriately. We drive over an hour to go here; their pizza is legit.

Prix Fixe Experience was again off the chart. Creative, delicious, fresh local ingredients, stellar service, and an awesome vibe. Even the simplest of dishes like the pasta course - rigatoni - was perfect.
