I was referred to Paige to help me with my divorce by a friend who is also a lawyer. Paige and Roberta exceeded every expectation. They were professional, on time, consulted me, were concerned about what was best for me, advocated for me, took time to explain the process and hearings to me, very responsive to my calls and emails. Paige was diligent, honest and upfront with possible and likely outcomes. I appreciated her honesty and compassion. Just as Paige was recommended to me, I would highly recommend Paige to anyone seeking a divorce attorney.

I called Colorado Legal Group to set up a time to meet with a Lawyer and paid the initial non-refundable consult fee of $275. They were able to set up a call the following week. I waited for a phone call at the established time and did not receive one. I called them after the original start time to determine what was going on and was put on hold. After they checked into the matter they said it was never scheduled, due to an internal error, and could schedule one for tomorrow. Unfortunately, I cannot do that due to work commitments and they checked to see what could be done. After waiting on hold I was told that I have two options. I can get something set up tomorrow, which clearly wasn't an option based on the conversation minutes before, or get a refund. While things happen in life, and empathy is a vital element of any situation, the lack of professionalism here with no apology has fueled me write this review. No legal matter is easy for any party involved, but their desk-side manner was atrocious. When hiring legal counsel, one would want representation by someone with understanding, and a can-do attitude. They clearly came across as a can't-do Law Firm.

Transformational experiences come during hard times such as divorce. Thank goodness I had Hannah and Roberta to guide me through the process of divorcing. They are professional and stellar in their fields and personally they helped me be true to myself and my son. If you are searching for authenticity, expert legal advice and a personal connection, Colorado Legal Group is for you. Divorce is not about being right or wrong, it’s about growing and moving on. With Hannah and Roberta on my side, I have grown and I am able to move on. Thank you both!!!

I hired Paige after consultations with three other lawyers. I chose her because she was straightforward and caring at the same time. She's extremely thorough and answered all of my questions, plus advised me on topics I didn't even think of. I can't thank her enough!

Questions & Answers

How do you know if a divorce is uncontested? And where do you go from there?

Melissa Oakes | Oct 14, 2018
Colorado Legal Group | Oct 14, 2018

Hi Melissa, You have an uncontested divorce if you and your spouse agree on MOST things. You do not have to have a complete agreement, but when it comes to things like the kids and your house, you are generally in agreement and you are in an emotional place where you can continue to work things out. At this point, you can hire an attorney, who can draw up your agreement and help you work out the remaining issue in your case. That attorney will only represent one of you, but will work with the other spouse. Or you can both hire counsel to work out the final details and documents, This is much quicker and far less expensive than a regular divorce. David Crum, Esq

What is the best way to go about a change in custody?

Anita Foster | Oct 14, 2018
Colorado Legal Group | Oct 14, 2018

Hi Anita, Legally you have to establish that there has been a material change in circumstances that would justify a modification of your current custody arrangement. The court also requires that such a change be in the best interests of the children. If you have that, we can file a petition/motion to modify, and if we do that, there are a number of different ways the case could proceed. Give us a call and we will be happy to walk you through it. Thanks for the question! David Crum Managing Attorney Colorado Legal Group

Is there a certain amount of time you have to live in Colorado before you can file for divorce here?

Charlie Shisler | Oct 14, 2018
Colorado Legal Group | Oct 14, 2018

Hey Charlie - You and/or your spouse need to live in Colorado for at least 91 days prior to filing a petition. If you have children, unfortunately, there is an additional waiting period for them. In most cases, children need to live in Colorado for at least 182 days (about 6 months) before a Colorado court can enter orders regarding the children. It's very important to follow these jurisdictional requirements, so this is a great question, that may be overlooked. Paige

How do I go about getting a legal separation?

Esther Peterson | Oct 14, 2018
Colorado Legal Group | Oct 14, 2018

Thank you for the question Esther. Getting a legal separation is very similar to obtaining a divorce. The processes mirror each other, except the end result. In the case of a legal separation your marriage is not dissolved. But, the parties (or the Judge) still need to determine all outstanding issues: parenting time, decision-making, child support, property and debt division, and spousal support, if any. Typically, there is not much benefit to obtaining a legal separation versus a divorce, but there can be some such as, religious/moral reasons or the potential ability to remain on a spouse's health insurance. I hope this helps answer your question, give us a call if you need help with anything else! Paige
