This is by far the most incompetent governmental office in the almost 35 years I've been alive. I filed a Fair Housing complaint that occurred within Denver, Colorado, on April 19th. They have been slower than snails in responding to the complaint, and the matter is urgent. Shame on this office for treating blind people with no human regard!

What laws help us when a unit is inhabitable? Our furnace went out and the property management hasn't moved us to a unit with heat.

My apartment has mold and I told the landlord, so they sent letters to the tenants that they need to open the windows when you shower. No humidifier. Open windows if you are cooking, etc. It's obviously because they know that there's a mold issue.

Hey Beth! HUD really deals with the fair housing act, so discrimination by landlords on the basis of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, disability, and familial status. It doesn't sound like they'd be able to help with your mold issue. However, mold may be a breach of the warranty of habitability. See https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/colorado-rules-regarding-mold-rental-properties.html for Colorado information. I don't know what state you are in, but you should Google local housing authorities to call and see if they have any advice that might help you. Hope this helps!
